Having to leave Royal behind was such a gut punch.
Yeah I thought that was totally unexpected. The way it was designed made it feel like there HAD to be a way to get them out. I reloaded saves and all sorts. I'm still not convinced tbf!

Did you find and face the superboss underwater?

Amid Evil
Very pretty fantasy FPS where the rocket launcher equivalent shoots planets (including earth) at dudes. Very fun, beautiful and has a soundtrack by Andrew Huschult.
1749659975903.jpeg

AWOL
A free Build-engine FPS with a modern military setting. Very good, has vehicles that are pretty well done for a Build game and is also free.
1749660016090.jpeg

Butcher's Creek
A first-person melee game by David Scyzmanski, aka the guy behind Dusk and Iron Lung. Kind of plays and feels like Condemned: Criminal Origins if it came out on the PS2 and OG Xbox.
1749660055534.jpeg

Calcium Contract
Very fun classic FPS that has an aesthetic that reminds me of Pandemonium. Also has a neat twist on secrets and treasures, instead of hidden areas you have an enemy that carries the treasure chest that you must kill before it escapes the map.
1749660075971.jpeg

Cavern of Dreams
Neat little platformer that feels like Spyro if it got made for the Nintendo 64.
1749660122065.jpeg

Cry of Fear
Amazing survival horror FPS that is one of those few games to rival Silent Hill in terms of spookiness. It's also free.
1749660147952.jpeg

Divine Frequency
Currently only has a demo on Steam, but holy crap does it hit hard. It's like Bloodborne meets Silent Hill, and it is terrifying AF.
1749660169864.jpeg

Dusk
You probably already know this one. It's New Blood's flagship game aside from Ultrakill, and plays like it's own unique spin on boomer shooters with sliding and lots of acrobatic jumping and backflipping.
1749660231111.webp

Fortune's Run
Amazing immersive sim platformer FPS thing that feels like MGS meets Shadow Warrior with an aesthetic reminiscent of Star Wars and an awesome soundtrack. It's only in Early Access, but I highly recommend it.
1749660261902.jpeg

The Forever Winter
An indie game that has the graphical fidelity of a top-tier AAA game and an awesome setting that is a cyberpunk dystopia taken to WH40K levels of grimdarkness. Plays like a mix of MGS and DayZ.
1749660304865.jpeg

Ghostware: Arena of the Dead
Cyberpunk themed FPS which plays like Quake III with sliding, has an aesthetic that reminds me quite a bit of TimeSplitters and has some Hypnospace Outlaw-ish web browsing bits to it.
1749660347112.jpeg

Holstin
An isometric survival horror game set in a rural Polish town overtaken by zombifying ooze. Very fun and atmospheric.
1749660371436.jpeg

Hrot
A boomer shooter set in the communist Czechoslovakia in 1986. It's insane on every level, from the enemies to the weapons to the fact that it was made with Pascal. Really fun, too.
1749660396014.jpeg

Hyperviolent
A survival horror FPS that feels like 28 Days Later in space. Pretty fun, and it's primary gimmick is dual-wielding.
1749660462809.jpeg

Ion Fury
A Build-engine FPS that is absolutely amazing. It's gorgeous (I tripped when I saw that they had put in animated voxels for frigging light switches), and has a protagonist that is like a female Judge Dredd. Also tangentially related to Duke Nukem.
1749660482162.jpeg

...and I ran out of images. There's still more though...

Lost In Vivo
A survival horror FPS that has a bit of that Silent Hill vibe to it. It's terrifying and filled with secret levels and such.

Lunacid
By the same developer as the above, it's a game that is like King's Field but not tedious and boring! Highly recommend it.

Nightmare of Decay
It's a first-person survival horror game that feels like Resident Evil meets Blood. Pretty fun.

No More Room In Hell
A free FPS game that is like realistic Left 4 Dead. It's also free; stay away from the sequel until they iron out the glitches.

Shadows of Doubt
A cyberpunk detective simulation game that is set in a procedurally-generated voxel cityscape. It's very fun, I highly reccomend it.

SYNTHETIK
An isometric bullet hell-looter-tactical shooter hybrid which surprises me with how well they melded those genres together. Very fun.

Teleglitch: Die More Edition
An isometric survival horror game with a very crunchy retro aesthetic. Very fun, very difficult.

Viscerafest
A boomer shooter that is extremely difficult and insanely fun and rewarding. Highly reccomend it.

Citizen Sleeper is a really simple Sci-Fi cRPG where you are a robot worker in a space station. It handles themes like identity, explotation and ecology.

Poop Killer best PC indie game series ever. For obvious reasons...

Granvir - A 3rd-person action roguelike mech builder that has co-op multiplayer. It has different campaigns with different difficulties and complexities; you pick which part of the region you want to head to after each mission, and on the second campaign you will start encountering optional obstacles you can tackle that can make your journey to the main objective easier. As for building your mech, you can build it from the ground up and choose every part to your liking, with each part having its own statistics and being based on tiers, and you can bring parts from past runs or save the parts to add them to the loot table. During missions you can complete some side objectives to get more items and parts, but it also could work against you if you take too long. Granvir also has something of a class system that can change based on the campaign you play on, and each has its own playstyle with benefits and downsides in what you can or cannot do

Mirage Feathers - An anime-themed pseudo-3D rail shooter. Unlock upgrades and other weapons as you play the story. Your character has infinite ammo, can lock automatically when it passes your crosshair, and your attacks will home onto the locked-on enemies. You can use overdrive as a screen nuke while also powering your weapons up, and there is a harder difficulty and endless mode when you finish the story. If you feel like the game is too hard, then you can activate cheat codes

I've got a few more:

Thunder Helix

A very retro flight simulator that is very MS-DOS esque. You can even pick up camels and drop them in the Persian Gulf!
1760767555171.jpeg

Relentless Frontier
1760767651071.jpeg

A badass GZDoom FPS where you chop up space grubs with a force axe and turn them into ammo for your other weapons, as well as armor and health. Also has some pretty cool lore as well.

HOLE
1760767740948.jpeg

I have no idea what this game is about. My Steam review for it describes it as simulating the life of a salaryman who falls into the black hole of gaming addiction and data piracy. It's a pretty fun tactical shooter that has great sound design and some creepy atmosphere that gets truly messed up once you get the key for the locked room on the third map. Trust me.

Blood West
1760767836117.jpeg

A New Blood published joint that is an open-ended RPG set in a undead-infested portion of the Wild West called the Barren Lands. Pretty awesome, both the melee and gunplay are feel very punchy and rewarding and has some pretty good stealth mechanics.

Fallen Aces
1760767879544.png

Another New Blood published game, this one a cel-shaded Immersive Sim set in a very pulpy Thirties. You can interact with damn near everything, like eating a banana and throwing the peel to trip up a goon. You can even pick up pigeons and throw them at people. Has some beautiful graphics and comic style cutscenes. It is also hilarious- I LMAO'd when one of the goons nearly saw me and then said "I guess I musta had another stroke or somethin'." when he gave up looking.

Maximum Action
1760767987769.jpeg

Yet another New Blood joint, this one a janky-ass FPS that is a love-letter to Eighties and Nineties action movies. You dual-wield everything, even when driving motorcycles and tanks. Despite the jank, it's pretty fun and plays like Max Payne, F.E.A.R and TimeSplitters were hard-boiled in the same pot.

Cultic Chapter Two is out now and its great.

Dont know if anybody else recommended these but here is a couple of metroidvanias:

-ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights
-ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist

Both are very well made and kinda feel like Castlevania Aria of sorrow/Dawn of sorrow gameplay wise

There's far too many to name but I wanted to add these!

Potato Flowers in Full Bloom, Hedon Bloodrite, UFO 50, Fear and Hunger series, Yume Nikki, WORLD OF HORROR just because I've been enjoying them lately.

Yeah, the game felt bigger, and the whole ability system got a slight rework. Overall it has more color than first game and music still bangs

Meg's Monster was damn good, CrossCodr was damn good, Eastward and OneShot was damn good. I really liked Red Bow and My Big Sister, Journey of a Broken Circle was a surprise, Chicory: A Colorful Tale was amazing, Melon Journey is good, Minami Lane is a good time sink, Crow Country was dope, Smile For Me was dope, The Messenger/Sea of Stars is dope...

Play YIIK, damn it.

Recently got my hands in Gravity Circuit, basically Megaman but instead lf lemons you punch, kick and yeet the hell of the robots, the plot is (Relatively) light and the gameplay is fluid, the music hits the sweet spot between "Could play in a NES" and modern

Return of the Obra Dinn and A Short Hike as well

The Planet Crafter(it's also on gog):

I can't tell you how many hours i spent on this game, the game has no enemies, your only dangers are dying to the elements more or less, it's a survival game i keep going back to where you terraform planets to habitable, i played it before i switched to linux, and after switching to linux i'm up to around 700 hours, with 300 hours+ before i switched.
It recently got a dlc update, it's a game i keep going back to.
Oh and the game has controller support if that's a big deal for you.

Shipwrecked 64

If you want a puzzle game that actually challenges you and makes you think, and a horror game that is absolutely terrifying, play this game. It's one of those "bait & switch" type of games, but damn it, this game does its horror extremely well, even with its simplicity, and I am sad that no one tends to talk about it a lot.

There is a fan game of it being made, though (with its demo readily available) called "Shipwrecked Terminus", and that multiplies the pants-shit-o-meter by 10.

There is also an upcoming game by the same dev called "Hotel Investigation '09", which essentially takes Shipwrecked 64 & expands it, along with making it first person. Looks hype.

Genuinely try it out. It's awesome and I think it does stuff differently from other indie-horror games.
