Why Factor 5 Games on Nintendo 64 like this and the Star Wars Games have compatibility issues from many emulators?

It may be because some video plugins do not support it or it is because they have an anti-copy system that makes it impossible or very difficult to play it on some N64 emulator even with the updated plugins?
Mostly related to Microcode in the N64, AFAIK certain devs like RARE and FACTOR 5 use special propietary code in their games to handle graphics and logics in certain specific ways unique to teir titles, FACTOR 5 games are notorius for their complex handling of this and that code in most cases its not compatible with certain emulation methods and took almost 20 years to get those games running in the first place.

If you want more details here its the article made by Gonetz (creator of the GlideN64 plugin) where he details a little bit about the situation of this games:

HLE implementation of microcodes for "Indiana Jones" and "Battle for Naboo" completed.

I´ve recommend if you have the power in your machine to try gopher64, as its does most of the emulation in software and has almost 100% compatibility with all N64 titles, but the performance its quite heavy.

Hmm it's an odd one, funnily enough all the Star Wars games work for me, infact my entire library works minus this one, giving up the ghost on this one.

Cheers to tonyhoro for trying to troubleshoot all this.

That core is available also for Retroarch android? I've tested all three cores available for Android, but no luck. Thanks
Are you using the app store version of Retroarch? That's normally outdated

Get from their website, it has different cores that aren't available in the App Store version:

So far nothing right now, i'll do a bit more tinkering, I'll edit this post with more below if anything changes.

Hello,

I am using Retroarch - Mupen64plus

I'll try out the core you mentioned, honestly I should have tried that also before posting, I was just expecting it to work right off the rip as i have like 60+ roms that run off that Mupen core perfect.

Cheers.

Ok just tried the paraLLEl core, that one is actually worse for me, this shuts down Retroarch entirely.

No idea now, strange.

I just tested with Mupen64Plus-Next and it also worked, this seems to be a better solution since paraLLEl is more demanding.

If nothing works, try update your existing cores.

You can also go to "Core Options" on Mupen and change "Counter Per Op" to 1 instead of 0. See if this works.

Same for me! Do you have found a solution ? Thanks

I've tested it on paraLLEl core on Retroarch today and it worked fine.
What emulators are you guys using?

Just saw the pic, i didnt know there was a version of this for N64 and with pt-br translation no less. Thanks.

It was indeed released in Brazil with portuguese packaging, but only the manual was translated. The only games officially released with portuguese language for the N64 were dumped with (Brazil) in the name and there were only two: South Park and Shadow Man. I believe FIFA 99 also had the option to switch the language to portuguese.

I'm not sure why (perhaps it's the AVGN bit), but every time I read this game's title, I think of some 80s cartoon villain getting irritated by the sound of a lawnmower and he's like "Will they shut that infernal machine off already!?"
