In your opinion, which is the best retro game for you?

Many, but if I have to choose only one, Chrono Trigger. Everything is perfect on this game, music, characters, story, enemies, graphics. It's my favorite game of all time.

Retro is a pretty massive category at this point. That's what, like 40 years worth of gaming? Somewhat hard to pick just one.

For me, at the moment anyway, I'll say Ocarina of Time. While it's by no means my favorite Zelda game, it is one of the best paced ones, especially among the 3D games. It's also one of the single most foundational games in the 3D action-adventure genre, with tons of modern games still using its basic bones.

I'm sure my answer for "best retro game" will change within the day.

And they're still making incredible hacks of it to this day! The modding scene for OoT has come a  long way, especially in the last 10 years.. Crazy that people will mod a game that's this old, for this long.. Lol.

Castlevania I, Zelda II, or Ninja Gaiden on NES.
Serious:
Zelda 2 definitely went in a different direction from the first game, and I can see why some people don’t like it.

But I think it’s actually pretty interesting how they tried something new. Even if it’s a bit of a mess, there’s an effort and creativity there that makes it a solid and fun game.

Castlevania Bloodlines (yes, inclined tower of pizza and everything), Hagane the Final Conflict (It's Strider but with so much improvements in everything that it's just better), and Super C and Contra: Hard Corps, both games that by now i know like the back of my hand.

-Metal Max Returns (Snes)

Yeah , i know , its getting annoying that i stan this game so hard as if i witnessed the second coming of christ while eating my favourite pizza while my favourite metal-band gives a concert at the same time. But it just vibes with me so hard , i cant get enough of it . My instant classic . Get an ambulance if i mention it again . And a Long-island ice-tea to calm me down.

-Splatterhouse (Arcade)

I like horror . Yeah what a shocker that i cant believe myself . ( ::star-war)
I liked the story of it , Rick Taylor was beast & a badass , the levels were gruesome & gory , the soundtrack just hits perfectly with the horror vibes and the ending wasnt a simple happy ending with rainbows and sunshine . Another classic of mine that even the sequels and the reboot belongs to my favourite series i come back every Halloween.

-Duke Nukem 3D (PC)
One of my favourite gaming icons and embodiment of 80s action-movie badassery . An all-time classic for me but one i played so often , im burned out of it.

I could name alot more games but 3 games are enough. Or the list never ends .

It’s either Super Mario Bros due to the memories I have at home, or the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for the memories I have at arcades and theaters.

Hard to narrow it down to just one, but it would probably be Doom/Doom 2. The massive amount of fan-made content and maps have made Doom infinitely replayable, and it's still one of my favorite FPS games to this day.

Chrono Trigger. It did everything right for me. Excellent pacing, no random encounters, fast combats. Haven't found any game that has managed to beat it.

As a few friends mentioned above I would definitely cite Super Mario World as a masterpiece of retrogaming in general, especially considering the purity of the graphics, the perfect gameplay, and finally the balanced difficulty. It is definitely the title that entertained me the most when I was very young and one that I will never forget even if Alzheimer's were to strike me.

Some slam dunks over the years, some well known and smaller hits:
Robotron 2084 (Arcade, '82)
Legend of Zelda (NES, '86)
Kensaiden (Master System, '88)
DOOM (DOS, '93)
Castlevania: Bloodlines (Genesis, '94)
Earthbound (SNES, '95)
Shadow Warrior (DOS, '97)
