In a world of $70 and $80 video games, what are your favorite budget games?

I have friends who constantly feel the need to play shitty new games that they hate, yet insist on going through with them until they inevitably rage and burnout. Dishing out far too much money for far too little joy.
I tell them this.

DMC 1-3, 30 bucks, same with DMCV.
Hades, 25 bucks.
Hotline Miami 1-2, 25 bucks.
FFVII, 20 bucks.
All of these you can probably find on sale for half of, if not less than, half the price.

In a world where you can spend 20 dollars to play MGS The Phantom Pain. why are people wasting time playing ANYTHING ELSE when you haven't played some slightly older big-name games?

cassette beasts, a $20 game, is pretty phenomenal, better than anything gamefreak has put out lately

As a long time King's Field enjoyer, Lunacid has absolutely swept me off my feet. A bit less bullshit, a lot more humor, but solid exploration, puzzles, and gameplay, AND it has its own version of Moonlight, gorgeous stuff.

Lunacid was my personal GOTY from 2023. I cannot express how much I liked the tone, the setting and the atmosphere in this game.

A game in the same vein is Dread Dellusion. It's to Morrowind what Lunacid is to King's Field. An absolute blast.
