Hi, long time no see... Anyway, I think I'm starting to lose my passion for gaming... I've gotten worse and I'm not that happy anymore. Is this a phase? Is it normal? I hope it's just a phase. How can I enjoy games again? Should I take a break? I've got so many questions but I'm tired, I hope you guys can help me out...

i agree with moonbits - take a break and focus on some other hobbies. socialize with friends, find some books you like to read, binge-watch your favourite series or a new one, etc. video games will still be around when and if you come back to them!

i've gone months without gaming - either because I haven't felt like it or simply didn't have time for it - and I enjoyed my old favourites even more when i finally had the chance to pick them up again :)

alternatively, try out new genres of games! look for an inexpensive or on-sale game in a genre you've never even thought about trying. maybe you're just burnt out from playing the same sort of thing.

I don't know what's going on with youbexactly, but that's okay, if you're losing interest. I still love gaming, but I don't make it my only hobby. Just find something else you're interested in or know that makes you happy, and puts you in a better mood.

I'm with the others on this, take a break if it isn't hitting how it needs to. If you force it, it goes from hobby status to being an unofficial job, and who wants that? Not every hobby has to be a forever thing, since life changes as you go through it.

Lots of people burnout, especially if it's all you do.
I'd suggest taking a break and let your brain reset a little- maybe try learning an instrument in the meantime!
Right now it may feel like the end of the world, but I'm sure you'll find joy again soon.

Do take time to relax and try other interests, surely you'll find something you like other than games. And when you've been away from it for long enough, maybe you'll miss it and re-ignite the passion. ::winkfelix

Like what everyone else is saying, take a break from gaming as a whole and do other hobbies that you are doing or want to get into. Eventually you'll get the spark to do some gaming when you don't expect it.

As most people already said, find another hobby to balance gaming, you simply got burnout and need to recharge, personally i tend to buy cheap building models and already got a collection

Depression can make people feel like their passions aren't important anymore, but once they get into a better headspace those old passions can come right back. I think you should definitely take a break and focus on how to overcome the things that are causing you to not be happy. Godspeed and good luck to you, gamer.

As someone with depression i've been there. See a doctor and try finding other interests.

You're experiencing a condition known as anhedonia, friend. Basically your brain isn't sending enough dopamine signals to the reward center of your brain.

Taking a break will certainly help clear your mind, but ultimately you should try to consult a doctor and try to see if you have an underlying condition that anhedonia typically ties to, and they might be able to help you out a little better with prescriptions, and therapy.

Best of luck out there, soldier.
I hope you feel yourself again someday!
