Illusion City's English Translation Is Out Now!

Wow. And I was just looking for a decent resolution version of this lol:

Great news. Game always looked special to me. It's too bad it's the MSX version and not Sega CD, since it has like 8 disks or more, and The Repo doesn't carry MSX as far as I know... but props to the translator, and I'm expecting it'll be a quality translation since they worked on it a long time.

Works great with rumsx. I tried to get it to run on bluemsx and fmsx and no luck and Retroarch runs the game but doesn't support disc swapping.

It does. But I could have sworn the old incomplete Illusion City translation was there. It isn't. Maybe I'm Mandela Effecting. ::huhsonic
Weird. I remember the MSX version on this website too, which thus I learned the game also had a Sega CD version but I searched its English and Japanese name here but no dice. I thought I've travelled to a parallel universe while I'm sleeping again (I'm a sleep-parallel universe walker), or was that an illusion? lolol

I wonder if they can get the ROM converted version to work? I've followed all the steps and it tells me the checksum is correct and everything, but loading that ROM on BlueMSX does nothing. OpenMSX is weirder and I don't know how to get it to run Turbo MSX, I guess I need to find the right BIOS or something.

This is why I love this place, so many interesting games and platforms to discover. I hope PC 88/98 titles will someday get added as well.

Anyone else using BlueMSX on Windows to try to play this? Mine won't run Turbo-R games for some reason. I think it has something to do with the BIOS ROM files since I found someone with a similar issue running it on a Miyoo Mini and they had to rename some files but I tried that and it didn't work.

I can run .ROM files no matter which machine I select to emulate. I can run MSX2+ and below games selecting to emulate as MSX2+ or lower. But if I select MSX Turbo-R as the machine, it stops being able to run .DSK files and remains on the blue terminal screen.

Edit: Not sure what I did, but I downloaded an older version and messed with the settings and imported some files from the Blue MSX Resources page and got it to work. Although now it'll play the ROM version but still won't load the .DSK/floppy format

I'm trying to bring this here but I couldn't for the life of me make it work in the much more convenient .rom format they supply a merge tool for.

Edit: it seems @max_iwamoto's tip worked. That said, I'm getting very strange glitches like being able to go out of bounds and garbled graphics. I have no way to know if I did something wrong or not.

Edit 2: Yeah, everything is fine now. Game is right up my wheelhouse.

Time to actually play this, once you upload it to ROM formats, but i hope the original disk formats are also uploaded for curiosity, respect, and importance!

Yeah you need msx turbo bios which are out there the fs a1gt worked for me. (Dont know if im allowed to link to the website where I got it but you can Google it) then you put the bios in the system folder, run a scan with open msx (the user guide will show you where and how) and then set the machine type to a1gt, load the cart, and in the disk slot load the disk file thats in there (or just save state). I got it to boot last night but unfortunately have no time to play. I can walk you through it if you need more help though.
