Ignored users

I don't know if this can be done on Xeno, but what the hell... just a shot in the dark.

I know that when you ignore a user, you don’t see them, but why can they still see you?
I wonder if there is a way that, if you ignore a user, it automatically makes them ignore you, and they can’t undo it. Some users as you know, bother specific other users just for the lulz, but if they were, say, getting ignored and couldn’t undo it, it would put a stop to it.

Basically, like muting each other from one end, where the person who ignores the other user could undo the ignore if they felt so inclined, but the user being ignored couldn’t undo it... just to see what the other user is posting.

I always thought it was odd that if you ignore someone, they can still see your posts.

Again dunno if it can be Done, just a shot in the dark.

I think the option to ignore people should NOT exist. Ignoring other people just because you don't like their opinions is a vere weak and cowardly thing to do, I would rather have this forum become a warzone than let it become an echo chamber where the only people you can interact with are ALWAYS agreeing with you, that is not natural, realistic or healthy.

Edit: And as for someone using it to create an echo chamber... people like that tend to flock toward places like Twitter, Bluesky, and other platforms where most everyone is the same NPC Minded spewing mindless drone. People here actually have differing opinions... I doubt it would be widespread.

I don't think anyone is coming off argumentative. I agree with his take that this shouldn't be an echo chamber. But ideally that would be driven by only game centric talks in my dream vision of the place. That's just my take. If we all just talk about vidya we have no reason to block anyone.

But you have to consider the fact that stuff happens beyond this forum. Like Discord drama, other forums & IRL stuff. No one is perfect enough to not block anyone. So if they cause drama in other places & they land in here & they don't like you there, they may not want to talk to you here.

Some people are absolutely insufferable in this hobby and the way they express their views in their posts, though. Sometimes you just don't want to see someone who is shitting up a thread. They won't know they're getting a time out.

Actually, I understand the point in this. On another Xeno forum I frequent, another user would constantly harass me, not in the way most do, but to make lewd images of an anime character I simply did not want to make. After several times of politely telling them I didn't do requests, I finally went to the owner of the board. They more or less did the same as Zerpina had suggested. I see them as an ignored user, and vice versa. We can't see each other's posts or contact one another.
Nor can we UN-ignore one another.

As far as I know, mine is the only case of this, on said Board.

It’s not really an issue if someone just put a meme on someone’s comment or post In spirit of good fun. The problem is there are bad apples who doesn’t know or care about camaraderie. The type who only thinks this place is open to all bs they want to spit all in the name of free speech. Words can be a great tool or a destructive weapon. Yet some people are hell bent on the idea of making others miserable just by the notion that they can sway them to their side. Stepping away can do one so much but there are the persistent ones and “ignoring “ them is the best option specially if that person(s) is singling you out. You can both go on your way without having to confront each other.

Honestly, if people here wanted to make it an echo chamber of their own opinions, the simple ignore user function would suffice....
You could just ignore someone because they had a differing opinion from yours.
That could be the case now with some users, I don't know.

All I was asking was if there was a way, if you did ignore someone, that they couldn't see your posts still. It would help some users out.. take the ones here who have posted about not liking the ignored user still being able to quote them and the like. That's all I was really going for, not trying to turn this into an echo chamber or some weird version of Twitter. People read too much into something. I was honestly thinking of people who don't like their posts being viewed by someone they themselves deem to be troublesome to them.

Most of the ones I ignored are banished nor chose self eviction for a lot of people felt disdain over them. Believe me there’s even a time I got a DM from one of them just so they can spit their bs on me. Sometimes stepping away from those types aren’t enough. You can report them, they’ll get a warning, they’ll wait until the heat fades and continue on pestering others.

No, no you don't.
Some people on here don't like that you can, I understand myself. I don't care... it makes no difference to me if someone follows me. I just follow them back. But some users don't like it, so it's kind of the same thing.

If you feel the need to ignore someone, they shouldn't be able to see things you post as well.

Being able to ignore is nice but each time I've seen a site allowing a method where you can hide your own comments and profile from people I've noticed that there's always someone abusing the system to actually say mean things behind their back without them being aware...

Sadly each time there's a system there's always someone to abuse it.

I agree, people do, and probably do the same here via DM in some small groups about certain users they dislike. I would almost put money on that. I would hope I am wrong and that the users here are more adult than that....

But again I think that with the users here, if they could ignore another user and that user couldn't see their posts, I doubt they would ever mention the ignored user period. There's a reason you ignore someone...

To not have to think about them.

I have to put some people on ignore, because I know their stupid opinions will annoy me enough to get a warning. I got a warning once for being too based, so I keep a lot to myself (Thankfully that mod is no longer a mod).

I don't mind if they see my posts, and I do like some amount of toxicity, but I find moderation here too strict so I have to take precautions for myself since I am a spicy boy when instigated.

And if that were the case, someone using it to insult or criticize another user, I’m pretty sure another user would report it anyway, so it would kind of defeat the purpose of doing so.

Like, if someone ignored you for the same reason and you couldn’t see the post, I myself would report it and let you know about it if you were so inclined to hear what was being said.

The users here generally stick up for one another against an antagonistic user wanting to stir the preverbal shitpot. Like the one user I don’t remember their name offhand, but they used a smug Kid Krillin profile picture, they were being a right ass to everyone.

Pretty much the entire forum showed him the door.
