I'd do everything I can do I guess. Although helping out as many people as possible would probably give me a bigger serotonin hit than driving a really fast car around a track.

I'd only let very close relatives know about it if any. I don't want everyone I know coming in and asking money for stuff that might not even be good for them and cultivating resentment against you if you refuse.

And the most important reason of all, some criminal element learning about your new found fortune and kidnapping a loved one for ransom demanding millions of moola.

As for the first thing I'd do, go on a trip to Japan and see Ahikabara to buy retro game stuff.

I'd probably invest them, that'd be the most rational thing to do since it would make the economy run.

But sadly one billion is still not enough in the grand scheme of things. I'm serious, even if a million is also a ton for the common mortal it's not great for the world of finance.

I would create two businesses:
2 - One whose dividends would go to family and friends;

3 - The other would be a retro gaming studio.

Give at least 5 million to each of my friends and move someplace modest where I can relax for the rest of my life without much issue, I would also probably help fund an indie game or two and donate to a organization that investigates domestic child abuse, as a victim of it myself when I was a kid I get a special kind of angry when I hear about it.
