If you could, which era would you live in?

Death is the best thing there is in this world.

If you are under 20 and saying this, dw, it gets better.
I know this is meant to be a positive response but this isn't really a good thing to say to someone troubled with similar problems. It simplifies and invalidate too much the problem from a perspective of a person you don't really understand enough or had contact, so it might backfire. That's why i don't like much to throw my generalized opinion about other strange people's personal situations online

Yeah, it's hard being a teenager. Kinda how life goes. I don't have any more background info on you apart from forum posts, so I am posting what I know to be true. We are all special and unique, even the most unintelligent person in the world knows that. But that does not make any "generalisation" any less true, It will get better, trust me.

*Edit: Also it was you who started this line of inquiry. In an open forum (a forum is a place where people talk and discuss things), for everyone to see and there is a big Reply button. If you don't want things talked about in a way that makes you uncomfortable. Don't share it with strangers on the internet?

Sorry if i deviate the thread.
I'm gonna be succinct...

My decision of non existence doesn't pretend to have any joyful goal of being nothing at all. I just prefer to be dead because i don't like life too much.

Anyway, don't worry about me everybody, let's continue playing videogames xD
And thanks for the comments and responses.

I won't try to discuss this type of stuff here, i come here to have fun, and i'm also checking the tone of you replies so even less desire by me. But i can say by experience, this is a dangerous attitude toward this delicate problem, you won't like to feel the regret about situations escalating with people around you and you knowing that you were part of it.

Yeah, I have had plenty of friends do things to themselves and felt plenty of guilt around it at the time. That didn't make their situation better, it only destroyed the lives of those around them and made everything worse. But I have grown up enough to realise that it isn't really up to me what other people think. People are not here to police your thoughts, that's up to you. Maybe taking some steps to figure out what is wrong and how to improve your situation may be a good starting point.

I would love to go back to medievil times in Britain and be a serf.... Or one of the people that built the pyramids! Wow, what a life that would have been!

A few years ealier so I could be a programmer during the Windows 95 era. I think making games and software during that time would be interesting, but most importantly, spreading viruses would be extremely fun 🤗

Heh, makes me think i was born 20 years too late, since i could have really done something making an archiver to challenge PkZIP or some other software before Microsoft became the defacto standard.

Probably the 19th century, specifically in Victorian England. I like the aesthetics of that time, in addition to being a big fan of the literature and music of that period, I could also meet historical figures from that time. Other eras that also interest me are ancient Rome (in the imperial period) and the late Middle Ages

I would have liked to live in Ancient (republican) Rome, to participate in all those hedonistic and bizarre celebrations; especially the Lupercalia, a fertility festival celebrated in february, where drunk participants dressed in wolf skins went around Rome and surroundings to whip frantically and indiscriminately the ground or the bellies of noble or plebeian women, to make them fertile. A festival that made all men/women equal for a moment, without distinction of sex, rank or race, in the general madness and "intoxication".

Jokes aside, I would have gladly lived in Ancient Greece, at the time of the first schools of moral philosophy, studying in particular in the famous "Garden" of Athens, the hedonistic and egalitarian doctrine of Epicurus, talking and walking amiably with thinkers, noble women, prostitutes, slaves, eunuchs, orators, jurists, without distinction of rank, wealth or race. But this happened only in this school of thought, which was the first to theorize universal brotherhood and human equality.

Some comedian once joked that if you're anything other than a straight white male, then time travel is horrifying. You can go back as far as the 80s, at best. (I'd say 2000s, though; plenty of hate crimes in the 80s and 90s.)

Thus, I'm going with the future. Let's say 2070 or so. It'll probably be fine, right?

After thinking about it again,

As far as modern hisory goes I'd love to go back to 2004\5, and I'd love to see Italy in the 70s, it had a big economic boom and we got the best music tecnology job opportunities movies comics..Italy was in full swing back then *longing sigh*

A lot of places here still look the same way as they did in the 70s, and so does my childhood home, and I grow up with a lot of its comics and movies, it'd be awesome to see all the architecture in its full glory ::biggrin

As far as the past goes...well think I'd go waay in the past like the classical times, I wanna see how beautiful Magna Grecia was, how clean its air used to be how green and full of life it was before industrialization

At some point in the past I may have said Weimar Germany. A finger on the monkey’s paw curled.

1980s West Berlin would have been a real trip.

Realistically speaking in the older eras there were more inequalities and people died from illnesses we now take remedy for granted.

I would like to live in humanity's final era or near the end of the universe's life just to know how it would end.

Send me to the point in the future when humanity has become a utopian society (a genuine one, not a dystopia disguised as a utopia) where a lot of words that end in -ism no longer have a place in the world, everyone lives AT LEAST 100 years, the entire planet has access to the latest technology, top of the line medicine, world class education, and the highest standard of living, nature has fully recovered and things like pollution, deforestation, fossil fuels, fracking, overfishing, whaling, etc. are things of the past, everyone is paid fairly and no one is allowed to just horde as much wealth/resources as they please, organized religion no longer exists, only disorganized religion, traveling around the world is so fast and affordable the entire planet is just one big neighborhood, space travel is common and other planets and moons in the solar system are popular vacation spots, robots are the entire work force so no one has to work and we can just live lives of leisure, said robots are 3 laws of robotics compliant, war is non-existent and every nuke has been dismantled and all information how to make them has been lost to time, the human brained has been mapped 100% and any and all mental conditions have a cure, all deadly diseases have been wiped out and all annoying but not deadly diseases can be flushed from the body with a single dose of over the counter medicine like NyQuil or Tylenol, knowingly spreading misinformation is now a capital offense, male birth control pills are available, gender reassignment surgery is now done via DNA therapy (BTW which is a thing too so all genetic conditions are gonezo), we've made contact with life on other planets and have established good relations with them, all forms of media are documented and archived for posterity (including VIDEO GAMES), animal cruelty is now punishable by subjecting the abuser to the same abuse they put the animal through, all food is healthy AND delicious, not just one or the other, everyone on Earth is a mix of every race and ethnicity, there are no countries, it's all just Earth, no animals are endangered or vulnerable (at least not due to human activity), the entire human race has a common language, you can learn anything you want to learn in a matter of minutes or even seconds by just downloading straight into your brain, the government is held to a high standard and being a politician isn't a cushy job, it's just a thing you do for 10 years MAXIMUM and the you leave, access to therapy is a basic human right, we have space colonies, we can view (not travel to because that's asking for trouble) events of the past to see how they actually happened, being LGBTQ+ is openly accepted by everyone, and there's a robot that's made to look, act, and have the same emotions and memories as Mr. Rogers because we need him to serve as an example to the entire human race for all time.

Knowing how humanity is I doubt that will ever happen.

Who's gonna tell them?

I'm 23 (24 this year) and honestly I wish time would have froze in the early 2000's. Unlike most people I still have good memories of 2003-2006 where I really shouldnt because of how young I was. I remember staying up late with my mom when I was 3 or 4 watching her go to town on Limewire, I even remember hearing the famous Bill Clinton IFreeClub ad, or one that was just a loud ass noise followed by infecting the pc. I just feel like it was the time where technology was getting quite advanced, but not advanced enough to cause the issues and plight we deal with today. I miss the old YouTube layout, had more customization and soul. I definitely miss a lot of the old jokes and such, I remember once again sitting with my mom at a young age watching a Tourette's Guy video, or the time I got caught by a screamer trying to play Super Mario Bros free online. That era is the one thing that clicks my feelings of nostalgia.
