If you could master one Martial art for free what would it be?

well I would continue my Naginata training I started back in 2004. Sadly I don´t live in that city anymore where I traind and in this small ass hole god forgot have nothing fancy. Sure if your hobby is gaming, movies or walking in nature and karate then yeah this city is not bad.

Kendo would be cool, but I guess I'd need to lug the sword around, and I'll be F-ed if I'm going to do that. ?

I know for a fact that no fight starts with both combatants on the ground, but a street fight will most likely end up on the ground at some point. I guess Judo could save my ass if it comes down to it. Other than that, I think boxing might be good.

This has actually gotten a lot better since the pandemic theres a ton of youtube senseis who know what they are talking about. Two of my favorites are Ryan Hayashi and FightTips. For Karate and muay thai as those are the two I have taken a liking to.

As for me, I have been practicing Wing Chun (kung fu) for more than fifteen years, but I am far from mastering it, also because you have to dedicate a lot of time to the exercises. Lately I only find time to go to the gym once a week to train in self-defense, but it's often difficult to find any available sparring partners. The 3 main forms of wing chun (Siu Lim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Tze) can be used as a dynamic meditation modality (like Tai Chi Chuan), but to be performed not too slowly and with energy at the end of each movement. I mostly practice this way lately. ?

As someone who studies various martial arts, I really can't just narrow it down to one.
They're situational, and like they say; know thy enemy.

Thousand years of pain.

Or Jonny Cage's ball breaker....

Shaolin kung fu, can't describe why but it was all the rage when I was a kid

I'd say either boxing like a lot of other people have already put down, or wing chun or a traditional kung fu form. I really like the movements and energy of a nice kung fu style. This is of course all hypothetical since I have the fighting ability of a paper bag and the grace of another, worse paper bag.

Either capoeira, taekwondo, or bajiquan.

I wish I could get back into Kendo/Iai, I practiced it for 6 years but ended up moving somewhere that doesn't have any schools. I still do kata and drills for exercise but I wish I had a community again.

Which is logical.

Sadly martial art works because there are set rules.

If there are armed guys around you they won't care about them.
Depends. If there are multiple armed targets you don't engage. If just one, and you're within something like 10' of said target, the KM is designed for the quick disarm of said target.

masturbation.
Hmmm...the ancient Martial Art of Zì Wèi. A very hands-on Art focusing on precise hand movement with an emphasis on grip strength, though the more advanced practitioner is skilled with feet technique as well as tool utilization, oft combined with great feats of flexibility. A very messy Art, but one that offers its practitioner great self-satisfaction and, depending on talent, a great deal of money with public exhibitions of their Art.
