If you could implement a new/old mechanic in a possible Fallout 5, which mechanic would you implement?

I would really add the New Vegas dialogue options and the old Perky system and The fallout 4 shooter and customization mechanics.

Realistic weapons would be cool to see but it would cost a fortune and not rely fit the ascetic of the game as I mean everything in fallout is like a futuristic 1950 settings maybe they should add more weapons that are their uniq mix but not as uggly as fallout 4 weapons.

I mean take the 12.7mm Pistol or the 12.7mm Submachine Gun or the K9000 Cyberdog Gun they do not look like realistic weapon instead they are a blend of weapons that fits the ascetic more.

Also I would not mind more settlement building but instead of settlements and that shit base building would be nice I mean I love that in Fallout 4 building cool bases.

Also I hope the power armor works like in fallout 4 because makes them much more fun to use than just having a armor you just dress in.

If I were to fly out to Maryland and transmogrify into Todd's divine form, I would replace Todd, become Todd. Those looking in would see a change of heart; a drastic one. There would be no Fallout "5", but there would be a Fallout. The property would be offered -- for a dollar and a deal -- to each of the founders and heads of Obsidian: leave, reform the Black Isle, and build it so that it does what it always was meant to be:

A pencil and paper revival.
(And we'll pay for it)

And then Todd would finish goddamn TES6, and let you have goddamn spears.

I'd like to see more weapon mod variations. I liked Fallout 4, but felt that you were very limited on the mods that you could could put on each gun. You could mod various parts, but each one only really had 3-4 options, and some seemed pointless because there was usually another option that did the same thing but better.

I'd love to see proper memory optimization so that I can get a solid 60 fps on my gaming rig. Seriously, there's no excuse why Starfield had to run so terribly.

Have 2 companions follow you would be nice as well, since just choosing one is annoying. The had it in Fallout 3, so not having it in 4 was unacceptable.

Nice looking weapons would be good feature as well. I hated that they made us use literal garbage in Fallout 4, and I hope the Gun Runners have a presence in the new game so I don't have to see raiders try to shoot me with their arts & crafts projects.

I don't mind the raiders having litteral garbage, but Fallout 4 seemed like it was overflowing with Raiders and their terible weapons around every corner. I don't need 30 pipe pistols once I'm done clearing out their camp.

I would take a look at the atmosphere of the game, as Fallout as a series has lost its soul along the way.

Funny sure but in a wry, downbeat and bleak way...the world is meant to be ravaged by NUCLEAR WAR.

Fallout 3 did it well, but since then it's been wrong...fix that and we'll talk.

The game tried to do crafting but it kind of felt like they wanted to follow a trend.

Fallout 2 had a less dark mood but I agree.

New Vegas had some bleak moments but the first game felt the most oppressive.

I'd make dialog options actually represent what your character is going to say. No [Sarcasm, lol] and simplified versions like that. Would be also cool to make a isometric camera available as a bonus feature for all the old people in the crowd. Its probably too hard to implement but I'm just thowing things on the fan. ::cirnoshrug

Actual role play in my post apocalyptic role play game.

But I know Bethesda/MS will just go for action like last time.

Fugg that, make your own Fallout inspired game WITH blackjack & hookers, & one up that midget Fraud Coward!

Stopping with the obsession of the 40's and 50's.

Before you're asking me I mean that Fallout is supposed to be a post-apocalyptic world set in the far future from a 40's view on the future rather than a world that has culturally stagnated in this epoch.

Bethesda has misunderstood the assignment and went all "oh hey! Let's put the most 40's and early 50's references in the game even if it made no sense."

Even the Nuka Cola bottle caps being a currency in the East Coast in FL3 made 0 sense because they could've used a different currency system.

Too true about misunderstanding the lore. Bethesda only uses aspects like bottle caps as currency since they consider it part of the Fallout motif instead of understanding the lore and making it fit organically.

Going with the use of caps, they could have just had a merchant NPC explain that the Hub's water merchant were expanding into the DC area, and thus why they were using caps to represent the Water Standard. Instead, they just plopped it in DC without any explanation.

I could imagine a concurrent brand of Nuka (like Pepsi was to Coca) or even an entirely different kind of brand.

I had a funny idea for a made-up currency: cigarette butts (since smoking was common back in that era).

And maybe a game set in a coastal area could've had seashells as its main currency as well.
