Eternal Darkness...one of the best games I've ever played and have completed it multiple times, I got it with my GameCube for Christmas 2002 and couldn't believe how good it was. It also needs a sequel but I doubt either will ever happen. Thoughts?
I 100% agree. It’s a game I’ve never had the chance to play, but that’s due to it being stuck on the cube and having sold not super well. It’s not rare, but it’s always been somewhat expensive, and that’s gotten worse with time. The idea of a game with a sanity meter who actually messes with the player and their system is really cool. While I think it’s probably coming to NSO (probably by 2030 if we’re lucky with Nintendo’s dripfeed :/ ), I think many of its effects won’t hit the same without being on a period accurate TV and GameCube system. In the event of a remaster, I would love to see the more fourth wall breaking effects implement modern flat screen specific things, like swapping resolutions and inputs.Eternal Darkness...one of the best games I've ever played and have completed it multiple times, I got it with my GameCube for Christmas 2002 and couldn't believe how good it was. Get on the Repo RIGHT NOW and emulate it!! Haha. It's a must play mate seriously.I 100% agree. This game has been on my backburner for too long, and I want to know more about it than just the effects. Perhaps I should play it soon?
Speaking of which, we need remasters of Blood Omen 1 and 2.Knowing that Silicon Knights is not around anymore and the game was made in close partnership with Nintendo, its safe to say that its not gonna happen. I mean never say never but Nintendo is much more strict with their family friendly image now than ever before so I highly doubt it. If you like survival horror and Eternal Darkness' 4th wall breaking stuff you can check out Dead of Darkness, its completely different in style but has some of those moments to mess with the player directly. Though it doesn't feel innovative anymore of course, more like an homage, but still worth trying I guess.
Nintendo has Mature rated games on the Online service for N64 and GameCube so they aren't completely against it.I don't think Eternal Darkness will ever be rereleased. Perhaps it might pop up on switch 2 VC at some point, though I don't think they're gonna put any M rated games on there.
If it did, they should definitely make some new sanity effects for LCD screens to replace the analog display effects. One of them should be a large enough to notice dead pixel that persists for a room or two. They could also probably replicate what a physically broken LCD looks like. A fake malware popup for PC users would also be fun. All puncuated by a flash of white and the player character saying "This can't be happening!"
I tried playing the BM Zero remake but by the time I got to area 3 I was over it. I missed the maps and music from the original. I was really bummed out they changed the area 3 theme song. Personally I'd be happy with a version of the original Blaster Master that adds a save system and gets rid of limited continues.I know there has been sequels and "re-imagining" on other consoles but a proper 2025 0r 26 remaster WITH A MAP of the original NES Blaster Master.

Well in that case I'd have to wait until Switch 2 emulation is good enough to play it then...Nightdive studios has interest in remaking the game but since the brand now belongs 100% to Nintendo it would probably end exclusively on the Switch 2![]()
