Maybe is like trading a PS4 controller for a Nintendo Switch.

No. Maybe op will answerHas anyone considered the condition of PS3?
At the time it was the only option for me to play these games on the TV but today I can just emulate them with PPSSPP.PSP emulation is limited though. You can get better compatibility with a mobile with PPSSPP than a PS3
You hadn't a PSP at the time?At the time it was the only option for me to play these games on the TV but today I can just emulate them with PPSSPP.
If you're playing PS3 games, keep it. You'll need a super beefy handheld like a Steam Deck to play them.I'm glad you still have the patience for home consoles (I'm thinking of selling my PS3 because I've switched to handhelds).View attachment 198700
It's one-sided, it's what I'm getting at.PS3 don't need a microphone to be used but i have to think a better example.

Sounds like a great deal, especially after you mod your system. You also might want to consider putting in a new hard drive if you want to install games on there, since you can grab a 1 TB for about $50 these days.View attachment 198683
Yesterday I traded my microphone for my friend's PS3. Was it worth it?
FOR ME, YES XDDD
There's no way I can properly express how happy I am about it. The PS3 has been with me since 2014, or maybe even earlier. If I remember correctly, my dad bought it second-hand from a friend — that bundle that came with Battlefield 4 and PES 2014... so many memories :,v
I've never been the kind of person who owned a huge collection of games. I think the games that were actually MINE were only about 10 that I can remember off the top of my head:
BUT... there were rental stores. OH YESSS. And yes, I used to rent PS3 games XDD. It was amazing. Every weekend, on Saturday or Sunday, my dad would rent a game for me to enjoy. The games I listed above were acquired over time, but at the beginning? I basically only had Battlefield 4 and Minecraft.
- Battlefield 4
- PES 2014
- Minecraft
- Sonic Unleashed
- Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
- God of War: Ascension
- Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
- The Amazing Spider-Man
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse
You have NO IDEA how magical it was to play Minecraft on the PS3 throughout all those years :DDDD. Pure fun.
Like... "Why are you still using a PS3 in 2026?"
Well, because I want to, isn't that obvious? The PS3 was a huge part of my life. It'll stay by my side until it eventually explodes or something, bruh.
And about the microphone... I practically never used it :/ and my friend never used the PS3, so one thing led to another XDDD. It was destiny, that's all.

Play anywhere has become a greater personal need than advanced graphics (and I've already played most of the exclusives that interested me on console). If you're playing PS3 games, keep it. You'll need a super beefy handheld like a Steam Deck to play them.
Maybe. Even you can make use of the keyboard aloneIt's one-sided, it's what I'm getting at.
DAMN, you totally got it right!Honestly, test subject, if neither of you were using the items and both received something in exchange that you both agree on, then I consider it a fair and even deal. I have no idea about your friend's position, but you sound rather happy with the trade.
The microphone looked to be worth more than the PS3 itself, but I digress. I don't see anything wrong with a good trade, as long as you're not trying to rip someone off, and they know the value of one item is more than the other and are fine with it. Again, you sound happy with it, and assuming your friend is as well, then I say it was well worth the trade. Happy gaming.
You never mentioned, or I overlooked it, whether the PS3 was jailbroken. I would jailbreak it simply to cut down on load times, if nothing else.
I did, I still have my PSP E-1000 from the time but I now play PSP on my Vita, but I meant for playing on TV I used the PS3 though not all games would run.You hadn't a PSP at the time?
Remember that the PS3 Store is shutted down so you can't buy digital games from there anymore.DAMN, you totally got it right!
The microphone was a Fifine AM8, and honestly, I didn't see much use for it anymore. I already have another microphone that's more basic, but it's actually more versatile for my daily needs. I had been planning to sell the AM8 for a while, but then I talked to my friend about it, and he said:
"Hey man, I have a PS3 sitting around collecting dust. If it still turns on and works, I'll clean it up for you and even replace the thermal paste if needed."
It felt like a sign from heaven or something! XD
I've actually been looking for a PS3 to buy for about two years, and somehow the opportunity never came. It's kind of funny how things work out sometimes. :)
And he genuinely needed a microphone since he has a gaming PC. That's probably one of the reasons he doesn't use the PS3 anymore besides the fact that it's considered "outdated." Even my dad asked me why I'd want an old PS3 when it's "obsolete."
I don't know... I just love the PS3 library. It makes me happy. It brings back childhood memories, and now I'll finally get to finish games that I never completed back then. I can even finally platinum Minecraft on PS3 after all these years! That's basically a childhood dream coming true. :DDD
And like you said, we're both happy with the trade. My heart was genuinely filled with joy!
As for modding the console, I'm still undecided. Honestly, I'd rather buy physical copies whenever possible, and only purchase digital games when there was never a physical release. Games like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Castle Crashers, and other digital-only titles make sense to buy digitally. But if a game has a physical version, I love having it on my shelf and actually owning it.
I'm even thinking about buying a Walkman and collecting cassette tapes someday. XDDD
And who knows? Maybe I'll upgrade the PS3 in the future and install an SSD. For now, though, it's nothing but good times ahead. :)
I believe it's still open, only PSP stores shut down, I can confirm PS Vita stores are still up.Remember that the PS3 Store is shutted down so you can't buy digital games from there anymore.
Weren't shutted down in like 2024?I believe it's still open, only PSP stores shut down, I can confirm PS Vita stores are still up.
Nope, only PSP, unlike Nintendo Sony tends to fear backlash, happens quite often, Nintendo don't give a fuck, they double down, they are the Disney of Japan.Weren't shutted down in like 2024?

Basically you can't buy anything but can retain the bought?

I dunno.
I think you can still buy stuff via PSN gift cards but you need to activate a one time code on the PS3 and PS Vita, pair it with your account using a phone or a computer, it's been a few years so I forgot exactly the steps but I've done it and I can still buy games on the PS Vita store no problem.Basically you can't buy anything but can retain the bought?
