Well, I have a gaming channel. I play different games every day, but I'm trying to focus on Roblox, which uses a mobile platform to record my videos and play. Any recommendations for editors and how I can edit and write scripts?

There is a lot of good editing software, most people use Da Vinci Resolve, I recommend it because a lot of people using it, means a lot of tutorials for anything you might need. Although, I myself use Shotcut.

As for scripts, depends on you.

Some people write the script first, and then record whatever they need to supplement the narration after.

Others, have a vague idea of what they want to say, and just get a lot of footage to help them more easily give form to that vague idea, so they write the script after, and just use what they recorded/screenshotted it as needed (this is how I write my articles).

Others, just go full improv, don't use a script, and just narrate whatever as they go with stream of consciousness.

Thanks for the help, my channel has 557 subscribers.I'm still looking at it; I'll read your text carefully later.

The one i use is Shotcut, it's simple & i use it because it is almost like Sony Vegas. Most importantly it supports a lot of video formats both to import & also export. As for scripts i can't help there, i don't talk in my videos, good luck on your venture.

Oh yeah & for a mobile option if you are able to, youcut is good but you do need to buy the full version to edit without watermark.

I guess I'll be the one person to recommend Adobe Premiere Pro.
Adobe charges too much and leaves lots of issues unaddressed, but if you're on this forum you're obviously already very accustomed to not paying for things, and Adobe certainly deserves that approach.
Despite the issues, Premiere Pro has the most robust and consistent tools, is pretty easy to learn, has a wide range of plugins available to enhance it, and is corporate-standard so the skills you learn may be professionally viable (if you care about that sort of thing).
Failing in that, Final Cut Pro on Mac is pretty much the same tool, just stripped down a little.
I've never used the Premiere Rush app on mobile, but the name implies a comparable experience, so maybe it's good too if you're working there exclusively?

My scriptwriting approach depends on the kind of content I'm making, but generally, I have a basic outline of what I want said with some extra details for any very important points, then I just try to follow the outline and expand on it live.
I do this because writing a full script can stifle you a little when it comes time to record, and a good chunk of on-screen talent will get EXTREMELY mechanical if you give them a full script to read from.
But obviously, if you go in with nothing prepared, sometimes it can go just fine... And other times you get the dreaded dead air. Not as bad here as it is on radio, but it's still never a good thing.
As for what to write them in... Well, any word processing software will do, really. I use Word 2007 but there's no right answer as long as you can keep your script handy one way or another.

What kind of content are you trying to make? What audience are you hoping to reach with it?

I'll read your text carefully so I can pay attention; it's a long text, so please be patient, and thank you for your help. The content I want to create is about games.

I used to edit in Premiere Pro, but after a really bad experience with it, switched to DaVinci Resolve somewhere in 2023 and never looked back. Its free version is so good its crazy that they just give it for free. Sure, some effects are locked but there are many ways to do them with the available tools. Though if youre doing something simple, like cutting clips together and putting music and/or voiceover in the background, I'd say DaVinci is an overkill. So may be worth looking into Shotcut or other things people suggested here.

As for the scripts, I'm a simple guy and mainly use Google Docs. Sometimes I write notes on the phone or even in a notebook by hand. It helps me to get the scripts going, because sometimes I just sit there, look at a clean page on my monitor and don't know how to start, so writing it down in a notebook helps to make it less serious and final. It also allows me to revise it as I type it into a document later.
