I miss when video game companies did fun stuff like this.

Don't you miss it when your favorite video game had some neat little deal with your favorite candy or snack or something where they'd have video games tips or trivia or cheats on the packaging or even the food item itself? I know the internet is a thing now but this just so much more fun.

Yes! That whole vibe was pure magic. Like opening a bag of Doritos and finding a cheat code for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater printed inside the flap, or peeling off a Mountain Dew cap that promised double XP in Halo. It wasn’t just a snack—it was a quest item.

I don't think that was ever a thing where I am, but I can sorta relate: I hated when brand deals felt through on big games and they had to rush-remove all billboards and ads from the game worlds, replacing them with something generic. Made the games feel much more artificial.

Remember when chiquita put Donkey Kong country returns stickers on their bananas to promote the game

Sorry, 1997 guy here, but i have seen something similar with kids magazines (One called Eres Niños) having cheat cards, the magazine itself was kids entertaining in general, so i guess it counts as non-gaming media promoting videogames

I remember those, even though some of them were not the best. Still, I agree with most of the people. Such commercials and product placements have their own unique charm.

I'll miss it too seems strange now some the ads was like in the 90s. i'll was a kid back then too. myself loved how just not strange some ads was. butt wacky that sort of make them liking them.

i'll feel like company's that put more effect into game commercials out back in the 90s. likely to test what work for the best. and alot of them did that come iconic now.

This used to be my favorite cereal back in the 90's. It was such a good time to be a Spider Man fan too, we had Maximum Carnage and Seperation Anxiety for both the Genesis and SNES. No joke, Spider Man had the best cereal around, and it was only available for a year i think to promote the cartoon at the time.

Nah found it annoying just gimme my cereal you bland conglomerate. /j
