Picking a media and contorting it into an entirely different piece of art is a higher form of flattery than imitation.

I'm all for it. We are "supposedly" "upper mental beings", gotta use it, after all the brain is a muscle, you need to use it or it will atrophy or maybe people want a flabby mind.
I've contemplated writing some game reviews from a philosophical perspective. Maybe SMT: Nocturne with Nietzsche, some FF7 with Heidegger.
I wasn't sure if there'd be much interest in these topics.
Forums are kind of tragic in the modern world, not in a sense you should feel bad for people that use forums but in the sense that the idea itself is really good and is often misused. It's a way to have long form discussion with detail and immediate access to information allowing for a true back and forth without all the emotion attached. Issue being, many forum users see the emotion where there is none or drag conversation away from the sensible into ego-driven. People spreading misinformation, trying to push peoples buttons emotionally and the constant toxicity you see on a lot of forums on the internet are just plain sad. Forums could be genuinely useful again if they were more closely moderated and the people using them at least had neutral intentions from the start but we don't have that privilege a lot of the time. I wish the anonymity let people feel they could be their best self rather than their worst if that makes sense.
