I have never had an Xbox of any kind

I had an xbox 360 when I was a kid, we sold it a few months later and kept a ps3... Honestly it's a very good console, just not my stuff. The 360 had very good exclusives while the first xbox had a lot of good exclusives too but also many great games ported from PC or ps2 like Morrowind, Cold War Crisis, Soulcalibur 2 (what other game can you play as Spawn??? :D), KOTOR, long etc... A personal favorite from OG and 360 were PGR and Lost Odyssey.

Hell even Geometry Wars was good. It's a shame I never really got into xbox but eh, ps3 was just perfect for me, and still is ::biggrin

As a person from Europe, I will tell you original Xbox was like the ugly duck from the tale. Its hardware was more powerful but because it was released a year and a half after PS2.

Being said that, catalogue wise, PS2 simply obliterates any console in that gen. It does not matter you only like Ninja Gaiden or Mario Sunshine. So, no, don't buy it unless you can get it for a ridiculous price second hand.

Xbox 360 was a totally different thing. Its hardware was also superior to the PS3, although both were not very reliable as they had their own problems at the beginning. But this time a 360 owner could live without buying a PS3, because games on 360 were usually the superior versions and it had many exclusives, although if you were a JRPG fan you would miss many on PS3. Xbox360 is the best Microsoft console of all times hands down.

Xbox One started flawed, with the online always stupid thing that was later retracted. The console got fewer games than PS4, and this time PS4 got better. Due to being more powerful than Xbox One, games usually performed better, or at higher resolution, although some of them performed equally or even a little better on Xbox One because resolution was lowered to 720p. So, never buy a Xbox One, not because PS4 is way better, but because the direct competence is Xbox Series S.

Xbox Series S is an amazing piece of hardware. Is what I have been dreaming of a console in the last 10 years. A small, low power consumption, non-pretentious console for playing videogames with enough power to show nice stuff on screen. I am so sorry the console is only digital, but I am very sure I will end buying it for playing emulators. If it ever can be hacked, which I doubt, it would be an amazing device to have in every home because, at least where I live, you can find them for 100-120€ second hand.

In a nutshell:

Xbox: Only buy it if you can find it very cheap
Xbox 360: Get one, and install RGH. You will never regret it.
Xbox One: Never ever get this crap.
Xbox Series S: Get it if you don't mind digital games only and you like emulation.

Growing up in Chile I didn't know anyone who had an original Xbox and everyone had a PS2.
The 360 was pretty big though and my first console, I only played SNES emulators before it so it felt like a giant leap in quality.
I know some people dont like achievements in games but I loved the idea and its what got me into being a completionist and using RetroAchievments today. I still own and play that 360 specifically to play the guitar hero and rock band games in their original hardware.

I got an Xbox One for the sake of continuity but wasnt something I genuinely wanted, made me consider moving to Playstation like a lot of people.

Now I have a Series S that I won in a contest and I probably wouldnt have bought with my own money. I use it exclusively for emulation and its very good at it.

im of the firm belief that the Xbox 360 is the ultimate console for putting music on the TV in the background during parties. The built in audio visualizer is so great
Well, or to drown out the sex noises so your nosy roommates don't listen in (I never cared, let 'em listen)

I have never had the pleasure of owning an Xbox console of any stripe. So I ask you Xbox owners what are the Xbox consoles like, how are their games, and what is it like growing up with them?
My dad bought one for me and my brothers during a not-so-happy time at home in 2012. We were huge wrestling fans back then, and my dad would always see ads for WWE '12 and WWE '13, saying "I wonder how good they run on the Xbox 360."

At Christmas 2012, we found it under the Christmas tree, we immediately connected it to the television and started beating CM Punk with the entire WWE roster xD... The good old days of the feud against The Rock and John Cena...

From then until 2017 - the year in which we were given an Xbox One, in a more peaceful and serene context this time - it accompanied me in the best and hardest moments of my life, between a failure at school that wasn't my fault and my first date with a girl, between fights with people who couldn't live without making fun of me every 3 out of 2 and Latin and Spanish homework... Homefront, MoH Airborne, Watch Dogs, GTA V, XCOM, CoD World at War, Dark Souls II, Skyrim, Fallout 3, PES and FIFA, Minecraft... And then the first emulators for PS1... So many adventures! What phenomenal games, by the way, that have nothing to envy to modern ones!

This year, my father gave me a new one with which to run the dozens and dozens of games I already had. I never stop thanking him.

Had an Xbox before I got a PS2 and GC. It was a really cool console with a small handful of fantastic exclusives along with usually having the best ports of multiplatform games. That being said it was kinda disappointing seeing the large number of amazing games on the other platforms the original Xbox never got.

I still have an OG Xbox. Bought it recently in fact. I originally switched away from Sony consoles because Doom 3 was on Xbox. Great console and it's cheap to collect for. Finding a working one is harder than you'd think because of the terrible optical drives.

I loved the 360. I got lucky and managed to snag one at launch because I was homies with the manager of a Gamestop. I had just moved out on my own for the first time and got one of those projectors. Playing Dead Rising and Bioshock on a 92 inch screen was wild.

I enjoyed the Xbox One. It was my favorite pack in controller until the PS5. Decent selection of games. I got the Xbox X with my Christmas bonus last year. I think I've used the thing twice. There is some decent stuff like Ninja Gaiden Black and other backward compatible titles, but if you get an X always check to see if the game is on the disc before buying anything.

Sorry, I'm middle aged and feeling nostalgic lately for some reason.
