I have never had an Xbox of any kind

I owned the OG XBOX on Release Date the memories from games like HALO, Project Gotham Racing, KOTOR and many more are priceless. On the other hand i bought the latest 2013 Xbox 360 version where i played the MASS EFFEST trilogy, DW Gundam Trilogy and Armored Core had super fun. That's the only Microsoft Consoles i bought in my gaming life, of course i tested all of them.

I have never had the pleasure of owning an Xbox console of any stripe. So I ask you Xbox owners what are the Xbox consoles like, how are their games, and what is it like growing up with them?

I love my OG XBox! I’d recommend looking into the best ways to maintain it, since it’s aging and having issues nowadays, but it’s the best way to experience most sixth Gen games. Cleans up amazing, has functioning online for many older titles, and stuff like CD ripping and playback is STILL a useful feature.

Xbox is a big “robots and mech suits” kind of console, with a little bit of “cool ass ninjas” built in. On the fringe edges of the XBox identity, you find the cool obscure stuff that nobody talks about aside from folks like us, like it’s a secret club and we hold the keys to it.

Xbox requires certain kinds of gaming tastes, but it’s great.

I liked the 360. Past that, I've always preferred Sony's controllers and Nintendo's exclusives.

Xbox is simply more hardcore than its contemporaries. The gamecube? For kids. PS2? It's great and all but the Xbox...it is a monster and a half. Challenging and high quality games with still impressive technology, online play to prove if you're really the best, and of course a bustling community willing to join you.

One of my favorite things about the original Xbox is being able to save any music CDs onto its dedicated hard drive, and then play those songs in the background of certain games, like Forza Motorsport. Really felt like listening to your radio while driving.

since the X BOX was more powerful than the PS2, games released on both supports and on GameCube looked better on the X BOX.

One exception to this rule is Metal Gear Solid 2, which looks noticeably worse and has a lower framerate on Xbox, to the point of changing certain speedrun routes. Honestly, it's probably because it's a rushed port, but yeah.

The OG Xbox is way easier and nicer to take apart and work on/solder than the PS2.
Now I love my PS2, however I dread taking it apart, cleaning it or working on it.
I'm especially not a fan of the PS2's exposed power board with it's giant capacitors.

I think I owned 3 different 360s over the years. Also had a One for awhile that I sold. But what really made me a fan was Fable and its DLC. It was like no experience I'd ever had.
I also just realized there is a supreme lack of demon door gifs online so I made one

Xbox is good. I like it.
Xbox’s great point is reliability.

Xbox OG was way stronger than PS2 and had built-in play which was important, Halo was the biggest 6th gen online multiplayer game. I don’t think there was any competition. Your Xbox OG had a decent shelf life.

360 was even better with the Xbox arcade stuff, cheap and small games and just really easy to collect for. Having a 360 back then almost meant you were set for life.

Xbone was even better. Tons of unique options. Some were short lived like PiP which is a shame. Could’ve been useful but you could so much with it.

Series is interesting. I think both series consoles rock. Both a flawless emulation machine, to the point you can hack your series to play bloodborne. Dev mode is incredible. You can theoretically play almost any disc on your series x.

In germany , the xbox was a novelty, when it came out.

Not many people had one and i got one on christmas in ancient times of 2004 . And man .... i saw the ps2 and it blew my mind , experienced the gamecube at game-shops and was amazed by it but when i got my xbox at christmas , i wasnt prepared and didnt know what kind of games it had ( i even didnt know what the xbox would be , because of its very mysterious ads on TV )

And when i finally plugged this beast on my TV , my father gave me my first xbox game called "Ninja Gaiden Black" . The console menus , the vibes and the possibilities on it was so far ahead , i felt in love with this console . And when Ninja Gaiden was firing on all cylinders i was enthralled . The graphics and what the game . Thats why i am such a huge fan of the original Xbox . The X360 wasnt so peak as the original but still an awesome console i had .

Its like the unofficial Dreamcast 2 . Alot of great Sega games but mixed with many great western games too , spiced up with superior ports of multiplat games. It has alot of hidden gems inbetween . Even the cancled games that were introduced on demo-discs and in archives like in Unseen 64 are really fascinating and should be checked out .

I have had the same Xbox since launch. (Yes, the clock capacitor was replaced long ago.) I also have the 360. That's about where I stopped with the Microsoft line of systems. The OG One is softmodded, and the 360 is waiting for the badupdate hypervisor hack to get better.

But yeah, I loved playing the original Xbox back in the day. To be honest, I didn't play the 360 as much mostly due to real life, until Destiny came out. I was all over that... Vault of Glass and Ice breaker, all the Yes, thanks very much

Original xbox was cool as hell. Both ps2 and xbox had a pretty "surreal" vibe to them but for me, xbox took the cake with it's PEAK ui, built in HDD and superior multiplats. 360 was also neat I guess. I had one RROD'd unit that I baked in an oven but I can't say I have that many fond memories about the system otherwise. Anything later than that might as well just not exist for me. I completely missed the existence of xbone and the current series... series of consoles is just confusing.

owning an xbox is an alright but there's a few pros and cons

to me i picked xbox because their games are less of a lie and when you subscribe to xbox game pass you'll gain alots of games from pervious generation of xbox puls with current

i have an xbox one x and oh boy sometimes i don't know why i still have it

sometimes the console shut down while i'm playing and i lose some progress, the internet sometimes disconnects on it's own and doesn't connect until my 55th birthday, when i go offline the games become unavaliable which only access to the games i paid, even if i opened my account to let another person to play some of my games sometimes they get an error that they don't own it even if i'm logged in

i don't own alots of xbox games because one time while i pre ordered a game for almost whopping 300 SAR and at launch day i waited till it was released, i started the game and told me i don't own it. i contacted xbox and they told me to repay for it. they too my money and i didn't get the game so from now on i don't trust buying a game ever again from xbox

but in all that i think it's fine

I'll concede that during the X360/PS3 era, that for most multiplatform games the 360 versions did play and look better.

My brother had the world's least functional 360 for a time. It never red rings, but constantly had issues reading discs, and I think eventually developed a problem with it's HDD.

I've never really been too interested in the later models, but one of these days I should pick up an original Xbox, at the very least so I can play JSRF. I'd love one of the translucent green Halo ones, but I think they fetch a pretty penny these days.
