I finally finished ff7.

congrats, one month being the first jrpg is a great result

i have completed ff7 at least 3 times, and i still remember the first failed attempt, when i restarted the game cause at the end of first CD i had a weak team, having missed many materia orbs

last time i have 100% complete it i was a couple of hours per day for six months on it;
amazing period

FF VII as the first RPG is a great choice, it's a really good game at it's core that holds up real well.

Would recommend the other Square games/FFs during that period if you wanna enjoy more classic goodies from them (any of the SNES FFs tbh, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, etc).

Congrats, now next is Legend of the Dragoon....it was made by some of the people who made FF7 psx....warning it's not so good, but still alright IMO. Also FF8 is next. This one is much easier as you don't need to grind to beat the game. In fact you should NOT level up in that game.

Holy shit. That took a month and was my first ever JRPG. I never played any video games before this (besides stuff like stardew valley and minecraft) but wow. I didn't realize video games could be this cool.
i love you
i am happy it made you feel such strong emotions

Y’know, now I’m slightly curious how someone who never played games before ended up on a hobbyist site like this one. I’m actually really interested in hearing the thought process.

FF7 was also my first JRPG, I played it awhile after it was released and never had an snes, so missed out on JRPGs.
Play the freemaster kick butz edition of FF5 if you’re interested in FF5.
::heart FF5, the class system makes the game so fun and adds tons of replay value! I'll probably check that out, next time I'm in mood for FF5.

The Legend of Dragoon wasn't developed by Square, the game was developed by Sony and most of the developers worked on games such as Omega Boost, so you're wrong.

remind me to send you the xenogears amv i made years ago
Now I’m even more curious about this one

Yeah, a lot of great ff hacks. Like neoclassical for FF3, or Manall for FF1. Or ROSE for FF6.
