I used to play on 15fps-ish back in 2007-2012, but now I'm playing on 60fps on the same games. Not playing newly released games that much (lol).

One of them is Dark Souls PTDE, and Blighttown was literal hell on that shit ass system. Remember calling it 7fpstown since that is my actual framerate there.

Back in the day it really was not an issue for me playing low FPS, like for example, as frustrating as it was, I beat Goldeneye on 00 Agent on the cart and overall i just accepted the extremely low FPS in some cases. (it did weirdly add to the charm mind you)
Now i think I'm just spoiled by PC gaming but... I totally get what you mean.

There's a Fist of the North Star mobile game that, with the graphics turned all the way up, looks pretty sharp. But with the graphics turned all the way down, looks pretty PERFECT. It's like a PS1 game but maybe worse than actual PS1 graphics.

Yeah I remember in around 2000 my mate had a (pirated) copy of Resident Evil 2 that was NTSC and I was playing it in his house one day and asked him why Leon was running faster then he explained the difference between 50 and 60Hz etc and from that day onwards I was converted, I had to go home and play my (also pirated haha) PAL copy of RE2 and it felt so sluggish so I ended up asking him if I could borrow it to burn a copy on my PC. Only thing is saves weren't compatible but I weren't bothered about starting again as it felt so much better to play.

Had to edit that as I got the dates mixed up, RE2 came out in 1998, we didn't have a PC till 2000 although I did get my pirated copy of RE2 in 1998 as we knew someone who burned PS1 games.

I had a Cirrus Logic VGA card with 512 Kb of RAM in the 90s, so 320x200 res and 15-20 fps was the norm in most games
