Maybe I'm dumb, I don't know, I just find it really hard to tear myself away from my games.
In context, I have some PS4 games I want to sell, like Black Ops 3 or The Last of Us Remastered. I don't play them anymore; the online mode for BK3 is dead and full of hackers And I've already finished The Last of Us more times than I can remember. I listed both games on the marketplace, but when people ask me about them, I just say I already sold them.I feel incredibly sad just thinking about selling or getting rid of my games, and I get caught up in the memories I have in them. Maybe I'm just stupid. Does this happen to you?

I'm about to sell my Gamecube versions of all the Resident evil titles released on Vinted. I know the feeling.. I could keep them as they are not exactly cheap or easy to come by in the wild, but at the same time I don't need them. I have all the games on steam now with mods etc.

Will feel weird packaging them up and letting them go though.

It’s not stupid. If you don’t need the money, keep the physical memories. Black Ops makes sense to sell if you won’t play it again, but TLoU is still worth keeping ig. Either way, the memories stay with you.

Not stupid at all, I hold on to a lot of my games even ones I've had since Gameboy Color/Windows 98 era because of the fond memories I have with them. I can't bring myself to part with them, same for my newer stuff; like SoThankful said before if you don't need the money keep it.

You are not stupid, your judgment is getting impaired because you give a shit about those games — huge difference there, friend.

I felt pretty dead inside when I had to sell some of my games for financial reasons and I'm still kind of bothered whenever I see the spot on my shelf they used to be on.

If it's a game, you really cherish or enjoy then keep it. There's nothing wrong with that. I rarely sell or trade in my games anymore, because any games I got tired of or didn't like I sold a long time ago. most of the big budget games aint worth it. And I just strictly get smaller games, and if they get a physical release, I buy them and plan on keeping them as long as possible.

There are plenty of games I'm glad I didn't trade in that are on GC or PS2.

Give them away

It is stupid to keep them if you don't use them, let someone else acquire the burden of storing and hoarding useless games that they probably wont even play either! The memories will always be there, you don't need the physical reminder taking up valuable real estate in your flat/house/pad.

I used to sell my games when I was younger because I needed money. I have since repurchased several of them, essentially paying for them twice. Now I keep everything, even games I don't care for. I might want to give it a second chance...

i owned almost evert sms game complete also a complete megadrive collection with the best jap releases. Alzo a ps1 come with all the rpg that existed for it.
Sold everything no regrets i have 5 sons do yeah gaming is a privilege for me in the evening.
Bought a mini pc atomman put my collection on there and i love it.
Biggest for me was pc engine what great well to drink from.
But to be short just sell it life is to short to think about some plastic stuff go digital.
But yeah i orders the new neogeo aes system for a 1000 euro's i want it so bad even i have all the roms for ut as a kid that was the machine that you could only dream of.

I sometimes feel this way. I think: “But what if one day I DO want to play them again?” I have to take a cold hard look and be realistic. Will I actually play this? Or do I just like playing the memories in my head? The memories can’t be sold.
I always allow myself to keep 2 things of each type of thing (2 beanie babies, 2 old games I just keep for sentimental value, etc) otherwise I’d be overwhelmed by too much physical stuff and that would stress me out.
Being an adult with a full time job also made me take a look at my things I’ve had for a while and go “look, am I really going to have the time to do ALL OF THIS?” The answer is no so I need to take stock and make decisions. I usually feel better afterwards though. Like a weight is lifted off my shoulders.

Oh yeah, and just to add. It’s not dumb at all. Your human. We have feelings.

I keep all of my physical games despite most of my older consoles being modded with hard drives or having ODE's/flash carts. I look at how much a lot of those games cost now and realize that I'd never get them back again if I regretted selling them. For example, I bought a lot of my Saturn and Dreamcast games when places were pretty much giving them away. Now even relatively common games like Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are kinda costly, 2 in particular.

If you don't need money / space, if they aren't worth so much now that in the future you may say "oh, I should have sold them long ago to gain money", just keep them. I've sold lots of physical games but I kinda regret it (also because I could have asked more, if I still had them now!)

I had this same issue. I keep all my special games like ones I got for Christmas or ones I keep for specific game series collections but there were others I didn’t want to part with for no reason other than I wanted them in a general gaming collection of yesteryear.

I finally came to terms with the fact I can live without them and I got rid of them.

If they have sentimental meaning like someone gifted them to you or are part of a collection (like for example I collect all RE games and GTA games) then it’s not dumb to not want to sell them but if they are games that are just gonna sit around as random games that you deep down don’t really have a reason to keep then it’s much easier to say goodbye.

I get the memories part, that was also a bit of the reason why I couldn’t part but really when you think about it, the memories are always going to be there in your head, selling the games won’t take that away. If they aren’t part of a collection or a game your parents got you for Christmas as a kid, think about it that way, you’ll part with it but the memories won’t ever die.

Letting go is though, don't be hard on yourself.

But if you feel so conflicted about giving them away, why are you trying to sell them anyways?

If you are not 100% on that, then you shouldn't do it
