My CPU is an AMD Altlhon™ 64 But I only find information about AMD Altlhon™ 64 x2
Are they both the same and have the same name or is there a difference between them?

Have you tried CPU-Z?
It can give you a bunch of info about your CPU:

ChatGPT:

The AMD Athlon™ 64 and AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 are both processors from AMD, but they have key differences in terms of architecture and performance.

1. AMD Athlon™ 64

  • Type: Single-core processor
  • Architecture: 64-bit
  • Performance: Suitable for basic computing tasks, including gaming and general applications.
  • HyperTransport Technology: Improves communication speed between CPU and other system components.
  • Cool’n’Quiet Technology: Reduces power consumption and heat output.
  • Use Case: Designed for desktops and laptops requiring good performance for single-threaded applications.

2. AMD Athlon™ 64 X2

  • Type: Dual-core processor
  • Architecture: 64-bit
  • Performance: Much better than Athlon 64 for multitasking and multi-threaded applications.
  • Two Processing Cores: Can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, leading to improved efficiency.
  • Power Management: Includes similar power-saving technologies as Athlon 64.
  • Use Case: Ideal for users who need better multitasking performance, such as running multiple applications at once or playing games while running background tasks.

Key Difference

  • The Athlon 64 has a single core, whereas the Athlon 64 X2 has two cores.
  • The X2 model is significantly better for multitasking and modern applications that utilize multiple cores.
If you're choosing between the two, the Athlon 64 X2 is the better option due to its improved multitasking capabilities and overall performance.
