Introduction:
all games have cheat codes made by fans or made by developers to make games looking good. But you should watch out what you are doing or you gonna lose something. Well let's explain it.
1) games codes:
A lot of developers made some specific cheat code for more advantage and fun. Like GTA. This cheat codes don't effect on your files or your works. But it doesn't mean they won't break or crash your system. Some cheat codes like fall from sky or spawn tanks can make your game heavy. Also the cheat codes can insta kill you sometimes like tank fall on you or get out from world.
If you doing something important, it better to avoide them.

2)fan made cheat codes:
These cheat code made by fans and by using games codes. Well like gba or old games and consoles games. But this work have some dangers. Missing with codes means some thing will change. Some cheat codes destroy your save or make it unable. So always make a safe place for your saves. As I said they work with codes so they can effect on your graphics too. For example in harvest moon more friends some cheat codes make tilemaps invisible which can be useful for reap the sprites but make game ugly and weird.
For use them make another save (as backup) to restore and save your works. Always remember don't use this cheat codes a lot because they can damage your data or games. Always read the code conditions. Some codes works after a while in game time or need to press specific keys to press.

3)moded roms or games:
Well no need to press buttons or fear for save data. Game have cheat on. Like roms of old games you can find in RTG REPO and other places. For roms there is no problem but for games....well the games will be cracked so you can't play them online and your system will try to delete them.

4)cheat software:
some software can use for cheating on games. Like cheatengine. Using them is simple but they can damage your games and saves files to.
Some software or files make specific to cheat a game. Watch out for malwares too. Using them can be more easy but never use them on original games, which you play online or ban cheaters.

Additional subtitles:
you maybe want to play a game on your own language to understand more the story and games. Well not bad. You can use translation patch for old games but always remember some online games think they are cheat and ban you for that.
If you install a subtitle from outside they will think you try to cheating and ban your account. I know someone install a subtitles on ds3 and his account get banned by Bandai Namco.

Conclusion:
Use cheat codes only when it is necessary. Use them all the time spoil you game and make it cringe. Never use them in online game or original version because it maybe cause get banned. I online games you should respect others so don't cheat in them.

Damn beat me to it only mine was game genie / game shark l. Other than those the ps1 rpg controller that required only one hand and features several innovations such as bending your wrist to move straight or the face buttons on your trigger finger. The thing I liked the most thought about it was the programmable motions to effective create shot cut commands or devise a sequence of button inputs to automate any battle.

I hope this guide help.
(*me notice someone else*)
Ah is it broken or there is grammer problem again?

this is a good guide
since there are alot of cheat codes to pcsx2 and ppsspp that break the game after you use

there are some emulator that has cheat database you can just check cheat in the emulator and it download the codes from a database either its own database or from another place and around 85% procent of those cheats are safe

Thanks a lot.😁 I thought it were useless for a long time.
For Grammer and how I write it.

For me, I "cheat" mostly to to explore the entire game, and not just the valid map areas. The three musts are level select, invincibility, and "noclip" (walk through walls), but free roaming camera is acceptable if noclip is not possible. I have a huge curiosity about how the games work, not to mention all of the strange stuff that often appears out of bounds in a game level. Stuff such as unused/discarded level sections that otherwise don't appear in normal gameplay, or bits of level that are not playable but are essential to the mechanics of the game. You can learn a lot about how a game works just by visiting these out of bounds areas.

I'm also the type of person who needs to know how a magician does his tricks. 😁

But I also play the games normally without cheats, or minimal cheats if I get stuck and I don't want to repeatedly grind through the same areas.

Cheats have always been awesome.

I'm glad you recommended backing up your progress with saves - There's been plenty of times where I've enabled cheats and spawned in loads of vehicles, only to have the game crash on me, and then it dawn on me that I haven't saved for ages! It's especially important in games made by Rockstar I've found, where using cheats disables trophies.

Speaking of which, playing Red Dead Redemption 2 recently, it was only once I'd completed the game that I found out
that cheats in that game are full sentences, like "You flourish before you die" being the cheat used to restore all your HP/stamina etc.
I thought that was a cool twist, instead of the usual password or button sequence.

cant you use cheat engine on it ?

unused/discarded level
Remind me ghost lore of legend of zelda link to past.(they forget to delete some wrong enemies spawns and make a big lore for that.)

Also ghost house in same game deleted. It has a mario painting flowing around and attack player. Well you can only find it inside game files which they forget to remove!

I think cheats are ok if it's to bypass something ridiculous or time consuming, depends on what is going on in RL I suppose. Also depends if you enjoy the game. If you have time grinding it out yourself can be more rewarding.

Someone said to me they beat Contra and they showed me how they played on their laptop and they kept using savestates, not very impressive. ::huhsonic

ridiculous
In farming and so many other points its better use cheat for more accurately.

Like i need 5 slate rathian and rathalos for a upground. I didn't get even 3 of them after a whike but witya cheat I find for MHFU it saved me!

Also I believe using cheat on online games and make others angery isn't fine. Cheat most use in offline game for necessarily stuffs ot fir more fun.

Sometimes game design is like this to make you play more, but it's not fun. I think a game shouldn't stop you from enjoying the part you like (fighting monsters which might require the skill aspect) because you need more powerful gear, so I get that. If something is built into a game like save scumming or infinite rocket launcher (RE5) I won't consider it a cheat, just an option. Though it might feel boring or cheap.

Yes online cheats suck, in fact online game experiences can vary so wildly, cheats guarantee it will suck. Obviously some people enjoy annoying others, seeing their reaction.
