How often do you deep clean your consoles?

Last night my little brother told me that his PS4 was overheating and the fan was crazy loud. An hour later I had it opened up, disassembled, and was using compressed air/electronics cleaner to get out 11 years worth of dust. Thing is dead silent now and he says there's been a noticeable performance boost.

Not having a T8 security screwdriver was hell, but I managed with a small flathead. It was worth the effort.

For consoles, I don't believe I ever have other than... was it PS3 that had a controller input or something that would make the fans kick up to push out excess dirt? I feel like I did something like that for one of my dad's consoles, but don't recall which.

I do it whenever there are problems. So far, the only console I've had to clean more than once was the PS4. Each time I just put it on the floor of my garage like the dog it is and blasted it with our air pump until it looked cleaner both on the outside and inside than when I bought it.

I'm deep cleaning just about everything right now. I gotta clean my consoles soon. I need them lookin as sexy as possible. My PS4 being a big one, idk what the hell happened since I had it stored away but it looks like someone shat on it.

very often. I have like an urge anytime i see like a spec of dirt on my console or controller, i have to open it up and clean it. i have a problem

Like once a month they're getting wiped down externally and blown out with an electric air duster, although I'm doing it in the laziest way possible. My house is dusty as fuck for some reason. As a kid the only console I needed to clean out was the PS2 because dust kept collecting on the rails for the disc laser and making it run poorly.

every weekend or so, a little clean, some compressed air there, maybe opening them up.

I've actually never cleaned out my consoles after 20 years and just started the process a couple weeks ago. I have boxes filled with old consoles spanning from Intelevisions to gamecubes and everything in between. It's been fun. The PS2 is by far my least favorite to disassemble and I have to commend the simple layout of the Dreamcast. Havent started with modern PS3+ consoles although I did fix an old phat PS3 that had the yellow light and that thing was also monster to take apart. Hopefully the slim is easier.

I don't really use consoles anymore, but my PC cleaning policy is twice a year deep cleans. That's a pretty safe margin for consoles too, I'd wager.
Being mindful of where the console is kept is important too; don't have any obstructions on any of its sides so air can flow freely.
