How many of you guys never smoked in your life?

I started smoking weed when I was 21. I'd still be smoking it to this day, but after my MS progressed it started triggering severe (like, needing to go to ER severe) panic attacks every time I smoked. Caffeine has the same effect on me now as well. Booooo.

Tobacco, hoo boy. I kept off it until my mid 20s, but I picked it up when I quit alcohol after years of severe alcoholism. It started off slow, a cigar on occasion, some clove cigarettes and even a hookah once or twice. Then the clove cigarettes became a pack every other day. It was getting too expensive, so I switched to normal cigarettes and that was a gigantic mistake. I was a super heavy smoker until a few years ago, when my boyfriend convinced me to give quitting a serious try. I failed many times, but eventually got on Chantix and that helped me enough to quit for good. I do still get the urge, especially when stressed and whenever I smell a cigarettes it's like oooh that smells good, even though it's fucking nasty. I do feel much better without it and I know my boyfriend likes not having to sleep next to someone who reeks of cigarettes. x)

No smoking or alcoholic drinking here of any kind, but I'll never badger someone for doing either, it's their choice, as was mine to not do any of that.

I don’t smoke, but I like the smell. Probably because my dad smoked when I was younger and I associate the smell with him.
He quit over a decade ago though and we’re all happy he did, him too.

Aww, thank you. 💜 Thankfully most everything said is a net positive. I've been clean of alcohol for many years now, stopped smoking 2 or 3 years ago and it's ultimately for the best that I can't smoke weed or drink caffeine either, even though I miss them. x) The MS is a different story, amongst many other things currently. This isn't the place for that though. I'll probably dump in the Mental Health thread about it all sometime.

That’s amazing I’m happy for you. I would never smoke or drink but this stuff is still amazing to hear about. Hope your health stays good now👍

I don't smoke nor drink nor do drugs, I don't intend to start anything addictive, my choice of crack are video games and it already choke my wallet as thin as it is.

Awesome keep it up! Heard from friends who were ex-smoker that people often started to hate the smell of tobacco once they stopped, maybe it's different for everyone.

My dad was a smoker too, though he quit 'cause mom refused to date anyone who smokes haha.

Good, don't even try them out of curiosity, though it sounds like you never will. I didn't think I would get addicted, but before I knew it I was drinking half a 1.75L bottle of vodka a night or smoking almost 2 packs of cigs a day.

Thank you so much! I've heard both about the smell of tobacco, so I think it really is different for everyone. Maybe I'll eventually grow to hate it. I sure hope I do. x)

And good on your dad! Can't blame your mom either, it's a disgusting habit. I'm super happy my boyfriend didn't break up with me because of it and I'm even happier that he pushed me to quit and was patient when I slipped up.

I've never smoked or tried it. I drink alcohol kinda a few times a year on special occasions.
