How made a tranlation patch for a site?

Okay okay. I know some games wouldn't translate like monster summoner some ask in froum or others. So I thought it would be cool to make a translation for them but just reading a guide tell me I have some business with hex editor,pallet editor and......... so before I throw myself in another unending sea can someone help me? I know c++ and some python. I don't know where should I start and what kind of format file I should use.
 
It really depends on both the game you want to translate and the platform it was released on. Some consoles cut you some slack by being sweet and easy to master, whilst others are Lovecraftian nightmares designed to make your life miserable.

I have been closely following two translation projects that I'm very interested in and their eternal journey through endless hoops has been both fascinating and frustrating to watch.

That's actually the platform both of the projects I'm following are working with.

One of them had their team having to program their own tools just to stand a chance, and they still aren't done.

This isn't meant to discourage you, of course (I quite admire you for even trying!), just telling you what I have learned.

That said, I heard that Pokemon games on the GBA are very much workable, to the point where a user called DarkRisingGirl released her first hack at 12. So it definitely depends on the game, too.

Thanks, I heard you have to deal with binary files in gba. So you say it will be really hard.... well I think I wait a bit more for answers then accept best.

It's game dependent.
Some games have ready-made tools for translation/hacking.

If you want to hack or translate a game, always look for tools specific to that game.
And then, look for hack-tools specific to console of that game.
Games of some consoles are generally easier to hack/translate than other consoles.

Also you can ask for help about the specific game that you want to hack/translate, so people inform you about good tools for that game.

A lot of games can be hacked/translated without any programming skill.
 
Really? Thanks goodness. I already download a hex editor to use binary files to translate. I know modding tools for gba but they need specific systems.
Don't you know any specific tool can be helpful for gba?

GBA games are usually very game dependent.
My knowledge is pretty outdated... but here's the tools that i have been using extensively for GBA games:
  • Tinke can view/modify files inside GBA games.
  • CrystalTile2 also has similar features, plus tile editor and more. (General Purpose Tool)
  • Snappy for hacking GBA music.
  • unLZ-GBA for finding compressed graphics.
  • GBA Graphics Editor the name is self-explanatory.
  • WindHex a good hex editor for finding encoded texts. (General Purpose Tool)

Tinke is for NDS, not for GBA! 😅
I have been away from these for years, so my memory got a bit foggy!

GBA games don't have any standard filesystem.
And well, without filesystem, things are quite harder to hack.

I hope someone with more experience and more up-to-date info can help you.
