How Long to Beat

I've beaten FFX twice including Penance, all dark aeons, all primers and all ultimate weapons fully maxed, and both times it has taken me 300 - 350 hours. But if you include getting 99 of every item including, then oh yeah, thousand+ hours easy.
Then it means you've not maxed out all aeons HP & MP. That's what is going to take you most of the time. But if you never did it, don't, or you're going to become crazy lol.

i'm working on doing that as well, but for some bizarre reason, i am working on reorganizing the whole sphere grid before i take on the extra bosses.

Clearing and re-vamping the sphere grid eh? Nice! Are you going to break HP limit? It's definitely easier to stick with 9999 max HP, and is slightly less grinding overall but both options are viable. Good luck!

it's been a while since i last played that save file, but i recall on clearing out everything possible, placing just enough stat spheres to max out each character and then going for maxing hp and mp. i'll look later and see what my gear is for everyone. i think i got some decent armor for everyone to have.

I do dilly daily when playing games, i like looking at the details and searching environments, on top of that. i am not the best player in the world, in any genre (poor reflexes and all). So whenever i see the times on this site, i try to add about 30 to 40 percent. But I also think it would be fair to assume that, most of the site users are at least one level above a casual player (they were interested enough to at least register to a gaming focused site after all) , so I think the times listed there would be more relevant for enthusiasts, than for most.
Like Brandon who exclusively plays the Fifa's games and Cod's. He also has loot of opinions on what is the best beer (Bohemia BTW), he is overall, a nice guy but we don't really share many interests.

i took some screenshots of my characters stats in ffx on my switch. kimahri is the only one who needs some powering up at the moment.

I usually check HLTB before I start a game to get a ballpark, but I feel like you have to add or subtract a personal buffer for the times to be accurate for you. I can't speak towards the Completionist times because I basically never 100% anything, but my times are usually 5-10% quicker than Main Story or Main + Extra, depending on what I end up doing.

It's not always exact, but if HLTB says something takes 30 hours, my time is probably gonna be pretty close to like 28.

I usually have to add a 15-20% thtoopid tax when I look at overall times to accommodate for my slow ass, but it's a good tool to use in general (especially if I'm thinking about dropping a game and want to see how much time I have left)

The average modern gamer blitzes through everything, doesn't take time to interact with the environment, talk to NPCs, or do anything other than moving towards the next objective marker like a bee to honey. I don't take any time to beat consensus seriously when it relies on your average mouth breathing normies. It's like the idiots who played through The Messenger missing all of the cabinet rants and all of the shopkeeper's stories, or people who can't figure out what to do next in a game because they never talk to any of the NPCs who actually clue you in.

90% of gamers miss 50% of what's in every game that they play.

Their time to beat Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Trigger seem reasonable to me.
For CT, speedrun pace is ~4 hours last I checked, and people often tell me it can be beaten in ~15 hours, while for me that's usually 17-20. They say the average is ~23h. That's reasonable for someone who hasn't played the game before or know it well.

I remember being way off their estimates -- I beat both Strife and Deus Ex to obsessive degrees in under their time frames XD

But lovely place for sure.

one of the BIGGEST changes of play time is difficulty setting or "assist options" as they call them these days lol

like a VERY good example is dead cells, theres a crapton of difficulty modification down to outright REMOVING game overs (you respawn at the map you died, rather than start a whole NEW run) to dropping enemies damage to 10%!! TEN PERCENT!! you make the game 10x easier with that ALONE.
so how long does it take for someone with infinite respawn and 10% enemy damage to beat the game? much less than someone who didn't do that, since they have to be much careful and possibly build for defense and health, while on 10% enemy damage you can just glass cannon it all to boss cell 5

Ninja gaiden ragebound has an option to reduce enemy damage also
but it can go to ZERO percent on that game, meaning no damage.
remove knockback, and now you have zero reason to ever die other than your own bad jumping skill.
now me, i'm gonna take LONGER to beat the game, you know why?
cause i'm playing at 50% game speed. i'm too old for this shit LOL

Shinobi art of vengence has similar settings to NG ragebound, but no full invincible (it only goes to 50% enemy damage at lowest) respawn nearby (rather than checkpoint, huge time save) and faster combo fill (you can do a finisher attack earlier, another huge time save)
all i used is the respawn nearby, still makes you fight every enemy again.

I usually seem to find HLTB inaccurate, especially when it comes to games that sometimes won't provide you with direction on where to go or what to do, like certain Famicom/NES RPGs. I'm not an especially walkthrough dependent person but it seems like the people who are definitely effect those numbers somewhat. Not that there's anything terribly wrong with that, providing an average still does give me a good sense of what I'm in for, but I do kinda wish there were a couple other categories for people who did and didn't use walkthroughs.
