How I ruined a childhood friendship horribly

I used to have a friend who got mad salty with me whenever we played that JoJo fighting game on the PS1. Dumbass didn't know how to block the Road Roller super, which is actually telegraphed AF and has recovery for days, but oh well. ::cirnoshrug
the kids these days call that a "skill issue". your friend should have practiced before daring to approach you.

During the time of 1990-1994 I was stuck with only two video game consoles, an NES and Sega Genesis. My parents had this deal where my siblings and I were only allowed to have two video game consoles in our home, one for the living room, and one for my bedroom. I had a couple of friends that moved into my neighborhood, one of which owning a Super Nintendo. One summer I'd asked him if he wanted to join me on a walk in the woods, completely without our parents' consent, but eventually we were found out, causing his parents to see me as some kind of bad influence.

Because of this I was never allowed to set foot inside of their home. Honestly I felt like I was in that situation with Bart not having a Bonestorm game console, feeling envious of not being able to play the games that he had, so one day while he and his parents were gone, I was bold enough to sneak into their house to play the games on the Super Nintendo, ranging from games such as Mega Man X, Super Mario All-Stars and even Super Mario RPG. One problem arose though when I couldn't figure out how to turn off the television, as it had knobs to turn it off, but I went into a panic when their next door neighbor saw me. I hid in the bedroom closet, but I was found out, and they moved away shortly after. It's hard to forget these days, because it was one of my first friends that I lost from my own fault. Did you guys have a relatable story?
your story makes it sound like you were only his friend in order to play his games, that is a very shallow friendship, i am surprised you remember it. i guess the shock of being found out would have stayed with you.

There was one other friend that he hung out with, but I think his parents viewed that friend the same way, if not for him being a troublemaker at times. Once he moved away he was the only other friend I had left, but at least his parents were actually open to allowing me to come over, and he had an SNES as well.

I didn't ruin this friendship, he did
I was in summer camp (like 13 years old) and I was talking to someone I interacted with on the daily on how I was stuck on this one gym in Pokemon White. He was like "yo, I can help you with that. Just give me until tomorrow to help you." My gullible ass trusted him, and then the next day I asked for the game back. He looked flabbergasted like he didn't expect me to ask, but gave it to me. I was excited to see what the 8th gym really looked like when the darkness wasn't fucking my depth perception up. I opened it and saw that my save file was gone and that it was an earlier point in the game. I was pissed as hell, doubly so cause a mutual friend had just traded me an Elective that's now gone to the ether. Never spoke to that guy again and couldn't look that mutual friend in the eye and tell him that his Level 77 Elective he lent me was deleted forever. 10 years later and I still hold the grudge ngl. Got incredibly stingy with everything I owned after that incident.
Holy S**** THE NERVE.

If anything, I think you let him off easy. God knows he'd be seeing the interior of a toilet bowl every day for a month if he did that to me.

What an asshat.
