How Do You Listen?

I seldom stream music. I still keep a library of MP3/OGG files that I can access anytime. Most of the time, I just listen to them on my laptop while working on art projects.

For when I'm out and about, I have these audio files on my phone, but I also keep dedicated MP3 players. I have a USB-style (NWZ-B183F) and wearable Walkman (NW-WS413). To go along with my retrogaming interests, I also got one that looks just like a mini cassette player (Snowsky Echo Mini).

I usually listen to mp3s on my phone but I found out my dad has a decent collection of CDs and a porobably working CD + casette tape deck so I decided to finally buy CDs of the albums I like (if they don't cost THAT much)

Cds, Cassetes, Flacs, mp3s, etc. No streaming platforms, besides maybe an online radio once in a full moon.
Usually listen on an old Yamaha audio system from around 96( I think ), An Mp4 or VLC.

Primarily on my PC with my speakers, or headphones. From my library of 120GB of MP3/FLAC songs. Using either Foobar2000 or Winamp, which I have been using for years, logging them to Last.FM.

Other times I listen to music on my CD player at home, car. I don't have any songs on my phone. Years ago I had my files on a dedicated MP3 player, might get around to buying a new one. I don't subscribe / use any streaming service like Spotify etc. I prefer to have physical CD and files.

Mainly Youtube or bandcamp, used to play on soundcloud too.

Never liked spotify as you miss a lot of underground / unsigned bands.

I have about 3(ish)GBs of music downloaded onto my phone and I semi-regularly back it up to my computer

Agreed! Most of my downloaded music is from Youtube

One of these days I definitely want to move away from streaming. Whether it be through digital downloads or actual CDs, it doesn't matter. I just want to stop using Spotify.

I usually just use spotify, but sometimes when im going to a place that i know has shitty cell service, I use my dads tape player!
It has some 60's music, 90's rock, and my personal favorite: a Jimmy Buffet tape!!

Usually youtube or shouting at my Alexa to play something

90% of my MP3 player songs are composed of ones that I download off of YouTube. Most are old school dance songs that time forgot

I've been using Musicbee with a bunch of files I've gotten off soulseek/khinsider/torrenting, etc. I try saving rarer stuff on my SSD whenever I go through my computer, but I do delete files that are common once I'm done listening to them. As for Spotify...I have my methods of getting it to work unofficially 👀

(That said I've recently started buying albums so maybe I can get some VGM stuff if only Nintendo soundtracks weren't still expensive ::nervous-prinny)

I listen to a lot of radio. In fact I have the radio on right now. A battery powered transistor radio. None of this new fangled Alexa smart speaker app mumbo jumbo for me. ::neku-jam

I do have my GE portable cassette player from like 1989. The door is slightly ajar but it does work. The fast forward button is missing so you have to push down the metal tab and it's kinda painful. ::sailor-embarrassed
I have a bunch of cassettes including everything from INXS up to X. Some were stolen.

My CD collection was decimated by sticky fingers. The thieving kind not the candy kind. And I no longer have a CD player. But I do sometimes use my PS3.

Other than that I'll use Youtube.

Anyhow on a serious note I am forced to hear the loud as my headphones 🎧tend to break often and money dors not grow on treas.Besides on my Ps4 I use spotify hate the adds though ot I just me old phone to listen to me music 🎩🎶🎶🎶 well youtube also can be a good source of Music.

Mostly on Youtube.Have a nice 7.1 System with phenomenal Speakers and Bass.My neighbours love it i guess

Usually just youtube playlists on my laptop. Though I got a new car recently with all of the modern features so I may start using some audio app while I'm driving around.

I have a mid 80s Technics separates system in the living room so I use records, CD's and tapes but lately the CD player and turntable died so I've had to wire up a cheap shitty chinese CD player for now that sounds nowhere near as good, can't use my records neither. In the bedroom I have a mini class D bluetooth amplifier with bookshelf speakers and use a smartphone filled with mp3s as well as an internet radio app. On the PC I download music and rip my CD's to mp3 and use Audacious which is a Winamp clone as well as internet radio.

With my ears, DUH!

Joking aside you all know me. I have a rather sizeable library of "Backups"... let's call them...

Movies, anime, games, and music is no exception. When I find a new song i like, I right out rip them from YouTube and add them to the ever growing list of music I'll rarely listen to because it's on a random loop. YouTube, not really a lot.

I use the FreeTube Linux program that basically cuts out all of the YouTube bloat.

But when I'm working or around the house or what have you, I keep my iPod docked with a ton of music. And as I hate the iPod interface, it's been long since changed to Rockbox.

I don't like streaming services. I've got a 20 year old car, back when built-in CD players were still the standard. A hundred or so albums to commute to on rotation. I pray it continues to last me a long time.

Other than that I have a gigantic collection of ripped albums but I don't usually go for portable players. I prefer sitting down and listening without any outside distractions. I've floated the idea of getting a DAP but those are far more expensive nowadays. Most people just use their phones for music. Unfortunately I'm stubborn. My phone is for calling/texting. I'd rather have separate devices for any other needs. Sheesh, I probably sound twice my age. ::eggmanlaugh
I'm like the regarding separate devices, my phone is mainly my phone and my PC is how I use the internet 99.9% of the time.
