How do you guys even motivate to play videogames?

for few month i haven't touch my psp emulator for while and just looking at it, i only came here to change my wallpaper for time to time. i don't know why i keep stray away not to play it and i have sudden disinterest of long cut scene also feel like gaming becomes a task. How can't i play my favorite Black Rock Shooter and Final Fantasy port. Am i not understanding appeal my likeness or a burn out? although i'd often play competitive game and there's no problem around tho.
For whatever reason, the way you said "Gaming becomes a task" really stands out to me, i've come to feel the same on occasion. I've also gained insight that doing too much of anything can get monotonous after a long while of just doing that one thing. I notice when I manage to do other things for a while i can get back into it. But then theres other days where it just feels like I can't get into it no matter how long my break is. I seem to remember being a kid that no matter what I had going on in life, or whatever may have been hindering me at the time, wouldnt deter me from getting into a game. But now, it seems as though my mental state is what ultimately makes me decide if i even can into one

I've read your post and can relate.
Sometimes I played only the beggining of one of the many games in my backlog and the only thing i thought were how many hours it would take to finish it all and just stopping without ever hitting even an hour. I decided to take a break from games and do other things like watching movies/shows and trying not to think too much about it. Soon, the itch for a particular game would come while watching a youtube video or doing soemthing else. Games are , at the end of the day, for fun. If you think too much about playing games and it just becomes a task, you are not going to enjoy yourself. Also, if you are not enjoying a game you can just drop it and not finish it, go do something else that you can enjoy.

say no to social media and say no to online games for a while

then try to play a psp game again

Online games are complicated. You get so used to instant gratification that going back to regular paced games feels like a chore afterwards.

It's like getting so used to the Fast Forward function in an emulator that you can't stomach playing the RPG at regular speed anymore (Me.)

If i'm aroused.

Two ways
1.) Take a break. Gaming can be a very hobby that one becomes very invested in and passionate about. In some cases, it could be the things that keeps your sanity through a difficult time. So it's no surprise that it becomes a default pass time for a lot of people, but what happens when you're default don't work like it used to? It's a weird feeling, having the amazing console or PC you dreamed of as a child, yet you aren't chomping at the bit to play it like you thought you would. If this is happening, do something else. I don't care if that gaming PC costed you $5000 USD, just find another hobby for a while and come back later. You might just need a break.
2.) Integrate your love of gaming into other pursuits. As an adult or even as an older teen, you're more likely to feel guilt because you don't feel productive when gaming, so make it productive. Write articles, make guides to help others, make Youtube videos, create fanart, whatever. Then, playing a video game feels less like a waste of time, and more like developing a skill and creating something, because it's now the first step to doing just that.

I know that feel, thanks to adult life it's hard to get into a game into completion. All you can do is try to to find another game or console be productive and then see if you can dive back into the game again. Or try looking for a new title to get interested for a few hours.

Find another hobby.
Alternate between the two.
Never force yourself to do one or the other if you don't feel like it.
Voila, problem solved.

" hey, this game icon is still there, might have to finish this one one day "

How do I motivate myself to play games....

Backloggd makes this easier for me, but because I have a collection of every game I played and every game I want to put on my Backlog, I just choose the game from there and start playing. Likewise whenever I have a game that I started playing but have a bunch of active games that im playing, I spin the wheel to see which game I should play next.

I been gaming since 4 and never got that feeling of "man I don't want to play today" playing the same games can get stale so when you exploring new stuff and your mind getting blown away by the new game it will keep the hobby interesting.

I been playing nothing but Final Fantasy since late August/early September last year and I haven't even for a second got bored , yesterday I started FF3 original version with those shitty old graphics and music that sound like its made using a calculator

I might get a new phone soon with ability to run PSP emulator hope it can run dissidia.

Also I mod many games this helps a lot.

My genuine advice, if you experience burnout you can take a break from games to do other things with your time.

Keyword is 'can', alternatively try emulating arcade games, find something you might dislike and keep playing until you either develop a taste for it, or find what makes it not click for you. From there you can formulate what you like and dislike in games.

I've tried forcing myself to play games... I almost always hate the experience when I do. So instead I just put off gaming a lot, and exclusively play when I have time and I'm in the mood. I feel like forcing it is always a mistake.

Its why I am here; I cant keep up with the multiplayer games.

Therefore, I am content with seeing what others are playing.

"man im bored i should turn on the pc" and then i just play them?

Games are fun when they arent movies.
