Nowadays it's easier than ever to get games, buying discs, waiting for sales or even piracy, so it's easy for anyone not me to end up having a gazillion different games/roms at once specially if you have big storage. Now there's the problem: i have a lot of games on my pc, my phone, my psp, and a different lot for roms as i use EmuVr. But when i actually use my pc or psp and look at my game library, i struggle to pick one game to play for a proper, full session without getting distracting or switching to another game and so on, it's like a situation of "i have nothing to wear" even tho the wardrobe is flooding with good clothes. I miss when i only got myself 1 or 2 games and finished them to the last bit before getting something else. I have over 100 hours in 2077 yet i didn't finish PL nor main story. How do you guys manage to finish games in only a day or a couple off days without touching anything else?
Here's some of the games i have on my pc right now. My finals are about to end and i wanna make sure i spend my break finishing some games and not end up watching some crap yt vids.

I don't.

I'm probably one of the worst examples, though, I tend to swap between games frequently. Even in the last week, I started Soul Hackers 2 despite having a ton of other games to finish. Sometimes I will pick up a game years later and resume my save file. It is...not efficient.

Decision paralysis is a real thing. I didn't have that problem as a kid because I didn't have many games. Why not delete most of the games off of your PSP or wherever you mainly play games? When you boot it up, if you only see a couple games, well that makes picking one easier, right? And then when you're done with a game, delete it and install another one.

While I do have a lot of games, those are games I usually plan on keeping or I know I'm going to play. I did have a few more extra games, but I got rid of them either because they just sat there and did nothing. Or there was nothing left for me on that specific game. So I either sold it or traded it in for something else. I get where the original poster is coming from. As these games go on sale within a few months or go on an even deeper sale, when they are used. I rarely ever bother with AAA games any more aside from a few exceptions. I don't even bother with long sandbox games anymore, aside from Ghost. I stopped giving a rat's ass about them all the way back during late 7th generation. If I ever showed you my library on any console or by steam library along my games are just short games or games that can be completed in 2-6 hours. They tend to have great replay value or I got them on a sale.

Personally I don't anymore because I went through my games both on Steam, GOG and pirated and was really honest with myself regarding what I'm actually gonna PLAY then removed/deleted loads, I also put my ROMsets away as I plan to just get one game at a time via CDRomance. It had got to the point where I was overwhelmed so I did myself a favour and now I don't have that problem anymore. It ties in to the idea of downsizing to a mini PC too as it will handle everything I want. The last three new games I've bought have had problems...Forza Motorsport was a buggy mess with a bland campaign and even worse multiplayer, Gears Of War Reloaded worked when the Microsoft servers felt like it plus I had to make a Microsoft account just to play it in co-op mode which was the only reason I bought the game in the first place to play with my mate, then Microsoft wanted photo ID for the account so they got dropped, then I bought Echoes Of The Living (an old school Resident Evil clone that I've mentioned here before, waited years for it) and that has had nothing but issues such as the floor and backgrounds disappearing etc so I've decided I'm done with AAA and most modern games, I'll just stick with classics and lighter stuff such as indies. Got myself an RG34XX on the way to play the handheld consoles that I want (GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, GameGear, Wonderswan/WonderswanColor and NeoGeo Pocket/Pocket Color) and that'll do me. I plan on keeping it simple from now on.

I focus on 1 or 2 games at a time since I can't play for long sessions nowadays. How I play is that I set a goal for the day like beat this chapter or two and then stop. that's where guides come in handy when playing long games so I could keep track specially when I've not played said game for a while.

For me, finishing a game depends on how much it feels like a job. I play games mostly to just see what is out there, then I have a handful of favorites I replay every so often. So using this year as an example, I think I finished 33 games. I probably played about 500. But I don't feel like I had a lesser experience with those games that I didn't finish, I just saw what I needed to see, then moved on. I don't want to turn a hobby into work, that spoils the fun aspect of it.

I play a game when I really really want to or by chance, to finish them I have to focus and play them regularly on a few days or weeks depending on their length.
If they occupy too much space I delete the bigger ones or that I won't touch again, the rest can stay.

I have 12 hard drives for the game backup....Seriously though it is not good, as I get them, and the times to play even a little, are non. So I can't change, I just download to keep I think, then maybe I will play if I have the time. More download the game than play sadly. 🦄

I make lists of games I want to play, and check them off once I've beaten it. Seeing things get crossed off gives me a sense of progress, which encourages me to finish more games. I also try and not play more than like 3 games at a time. I've been going through the PC Engine library like this and it's been working well so far.

How I deal with it ?? Deal with what ?? I just play what ever game I feel like playing that´s it I don´t think about it I just pick a game I feel like playing and play it till I beat it or if it´s a endless game I play it till I get sick of it.

i used to burn the games i got on dvds to save space, but disc rot apparently exists and i gave up on that endeavour.

I mainly play during weekends. I decide beforehand what I want to play. Then on Saturday, I wake up at like 8-9 am, eat breakfast, sit down in front of my desk and play the game I chose for like 10 hours.

Designate a time for you to play games and then play them. Doesn't need to be 10 hours or on Saturday, but having a fixed time is what gets rid of any wavering feelings. It's why you could watch a TV show every week for months and still be excited for it.

Also, don't stress and think you need to play games. You don't. If you currently don't get any joy from it, then take a breather for a couple of months and do something else. There's nothing wrong with that.

what is this "finish" that you speak of?

Seriously, my backlog grows faster than I can play games. I try to finish games but its all too often that a new shiny game comes along and derails me from what I was playing. I tell myself I'll go back and finish it, but...
