It seems like the only games I've been buying and playing over the last couple of years are the 2D-HD style remakes or remasters.

If only the "new" games that go for that style weren't trash by comparison.

Well yeah they will keep releasing the whole series as remakes and remasters again and again and Square Enix may feel like they will never need to develop a new game again which this mentality is the likely future of the industry anymore between companies that have tons of games to remake. Meaning until their profit from remakes and remasters didn't drop to dangerous levels they wouldn't develop new games. After all they only care about profit, not people keep playing new games.

I only hope DQ5 remake will be a decent TPP game without random encounters BS and without sacrificing any feature and stuff. I already played its remakes so me and my money want something different in a good way. Same for DQ9 too but I want way more character creation options for me character and me party to create which is very important aspect of the game for me, not to mention way more clothes to wear than GTA San Andreas!!! Also as the original had it needs a decent coop mode to play the whole story mode with our friends!!! Otherwise I'll ignore even pirating them and I would rather keep playing the originals.

They are likely being worked on.

The dev was asked why 7 was being remade before those games, and he implied that it was the first to be ready, rather than denying that the second trilogy is coming.

And a woman I met a long time ago once insulted me for being "pretentious" and having "superiority complex" just because I use the words "however", "despite", "on the contrary" et cetera (as she listed) when I have no idea how and why I should change the words I use when they are like basic standard English tools to use lol. It's not like I was using the words "ubiquitous", "mellifluous", "pedantic", "cognizant" and I talk like "One finds the ubiquitous nature of mass-produced décor unseemly as one is only cognizant of true quality in the curated bespoke items that possess a genuine patina." or some shit instead of saying "I'm bored of seeing same generic design shit again and again so I want something different looking that they actually cared how it looks" lol. I naturally use simple language to avoid misunderstanding, not everyone is a native speaker, the point is simple communication anyway, et cetera.

Honestly they are fantastic and the best way to play those games on modern consoles.
My personal favorite is still the super famicom versions but If you're a fan you need to play the HD2D version.

It's getting lots of new fans into Dragon Quest, which is wonderful. It's also been a way to spend time with my spouse -- she's been playing the remakes while I play the originals (or the GBC version in the case of DWIII).

But these remakes just aren't for me. Pachisi is such an integral part of Dragon Quest III for me that I can't imagine not having it. The HD-2D remake, with its mini-maps and item descriptions, also provides a less immersive form of QoL, and I prefer how the older versions provided the same information through the Thief and Mechant's class abilities.

For Dragon Quest I, I feel like the developers turned the game into something it wasn't. That game's charm, in my opinion, came from how simple it was. It's an RPG compressed into its most basic elements -- just grinding and exploration, and you could finish the game in a day, if you knew what you were doing. It feels like a different game now. Not bad -- just different.

I haven’t played the remake of 1/2 yet so I can’t speak for it personally though I’ve heard that 1 has been made more linear, but the HD2D version of 3 is nearly a beat-for-beat remake so it’s still very non-linear and exploration based with lots of storylines and villages that aren’t mandatory, especially if you disable the little main quest guide icon.
