i have been playing Persona 3 Portable on PPSSPP (you know, that PSP emulator), now, here is the thing,
i'm playing P3P on the Linux version of PPSSPP (cuz my laptop runs Linux Mint, du-uh!), but for some reason, i cannot use my joystick with PPSSPP on Linux, i have two generic bluetooth controllers, the one that i use the most works perfectly on my phone, and works on Windows 11 with a XBOX 360 controller emulator for some games, and i guess it's working with other emulators on Linux, but it's not working with PPSSPP on Linux, should i buy a Playstation 4 controller or there's any method for connecting generic bluetooth joysticks on Linux that i'm missing?

I had no issues running my 8BitDo Pro 2 on any emulator on Linux, but not on Linux Mint, I had too much issues when it came to gaming. I ran Nobara which is a branch of Fedora.

I use linux mint 22 and my PS4 controller (DS4 v2) works fine with PPSSPP. I also had problems with generic bluetooth controllers, they work fine with my phone but are invisible to the bluetooth manager. I wasn't able to find a fix.

Not sure what kind of issues you are running into maybe some dependencies you need to install for generic stuff to work.

Now if you have an issue with bluetooth saying you need a pin there is a work around you can do

you go into your /etc/bluetooth folder and look for input.conf
look for ClassicBondedOnly and set to false.
if there is a # in front of the line take it out so it should read like:

ClassicBondedOnly=false

then run command:

sudo systemctl restart bluetooth

doing this should get around the issue with requiring a pin to connect I dunno if this will help but hey I did this when my dualshock 3 controllers were giving me issues.

If anything make sure you update your packages and whatnot maybe check and look to see if there is a library or dependency you need that isn't installed.
When that doesn't work then maybe use a controller that has more support.

Sorry for being late to this but try this
-Tap the power button with A or B button at the same time (make sure it's off first)

-Try reconnecting the controller many times since Bluetooth connection tends to make an error (at least 3 times)

Hope it helps
