I will now proceed to play every game in the phantasy star series because the save screen girl in on the games is cute.

Has Shantae showed up yet?

Edit: Tried to attach a couple different renders of her Half-Genie Hero character portrait, but it just displays static. :<

I can't see.

Velma in S as it should be
Nemissa reminds me of that girl in KoF '99 - '02

Velma is cool but I've learnt she's like 15 in the original show. I really assumed they were uni aged in there.

Gonna read this thread with one hand

Phantasy Star had quite many nice ones.

I kinda liked the newman nurse as well as the Episode 2 Guild Lady in Blue Burst.

While I do like this thread I kinda want to be careful about their age.

Not that fictive characters matter that much but personally I wouldn't comment too much online, in a relatively public space about appreciating them when someone could see your comments at anytime of the day, even your boss.

Surprised how nobody mentioned Cortana yet
A useless Windows feature will never be my wifu.

As someone already said Sylvando should be in S, same for Veronika. Alena in S saves it though
Veronica is not S for reasons I think should be visually obvious. She gets head pats only.

She always looked like a college student to me. People aged faster back in the era of tetraethyllead gasoline, alcohol normalization, and rampant smoking (not to mention all the unchecked pre-EPA pollution). Either way, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! debuted in 1969. If Velma was 15 then, then she's 71 now (70 at the youngest).

Okay, maybe it's not the best place to talk about it.

And let's remember that in Japan things are deceiving.
Even Asians get confused about each others' ages. (I still remember once overhearing a conversation between a Japanese 15yo and a very petite 33yo in which the 15yo was in disbelief that the 33yo was not one of her peers.) And the growing popularity of cosmetic surgery is making it worse.

Art style can change perception but you're right, in the 60's 70's characters looked older.

I prefer the Scooby Gang to be uni aged since they'd be more free from their parents compared to HS students.

And Anime can have a cute/chibi art style that make them look younger.

Or characters like Jotaro that is supposedly 17 despite looking like a college footballer (thus why smoking and drinking are almost censored since it's bad to show a minor doing these).

Western people seem to have the average adult american as a template when the standard is different depending of the people in a specific region (both genetically and with the food available around, japanese were primarily fish, rice and soja eaters so the lack of meat based products and non-fish meat made them grow less until much more recently with a more western alimentation).

Oh and back to videogames, that girl from Mushihimesama is supposedly 15 despite looking more like a young adult woman but whatever.

Hey, you don't have to make poor Cortana dirty like that :(
I didn't do her dirty, MS did. And I never owned a single Xbox of any type, so all my experience with Cortana is with the lesser version.

For shows back then, it was a mix of art style, expectations of the time (again, people were often basically poisoned into aging faster), fashion, and, on occasion, differing ethics (the 60s and 70s were not a point in which statutory laws were taken seriously, and it took a slow 2 decade-long progression to get general ethics to where we are now).

Yes, differences in diet effect aging, weight, and height. And average height is going up in many parts of Asia, likely due to a combination of food being cheaper and more available, and the Western diet gaining popularity. (It's surprising how few short Koreans I run into now, and that I've met at least 3 Asian women from different countries who were 183cm/6ft tall.) However, genetics also play a role. It doesn't guarantee anything, but you can find plenty of evidence for that with the common shortness and youthfulness that is still found in Japan despite having had more time than the rest of Asia to adjust their diet.
