Hot takes

The Ninja Gaiden games are kinda bad overall and their difficulty is more annoying than challenging. When it comes to enemies, level design, concept art, music, worldbuilding etc they epitomize the word generic. I think in general Team Ninja games are usually mechanically sound but incredibly uninspired in literally every other aspect that makes up the game and whenever I see one of their products with a Japanese setting I’m kinda baffled they are in fact a Japanese developer, because they don’t look like they were made by someone who actually ever set foot in the country. And let’s not even talk about how they write and design female characters.

Having said that I kinda look forward to the two upcoming Ninja Gaiden games exactly because they have nothing to do with their development.

My other not so hot take: the high difficulty is kind of the least interesting aspect of Soulsbornes. I love the challenge they offer but their legendary (and often overstated) difficulty scares away many people who would probably get a lot out of them.

Garfield caught in the act sucks

Well, some could argue that it's because the game isn't made for everyone.

On the other hand it may not be a hot take but I'll always say that gameplay is still the most important aspect of any video game and I'll die on this hill until the end of gaming. Also graphics isn't what matters but having a good and memorable art direction (a game will always age visually but could stand the test of time with the style).

Also I consider that Ocarina of Time isn't the best game of all time solely because there are too many different genres in gaming to be able to determinate what is the best video game at all. It's like saying that there's objectively a best movie or best song.

Coffee sucks
Once you’re a frail old geezer like most of us here, you’ll come to understand the fickle mistress that is caffeine. Enjoy not having to rely on it!::beer

I think the opposite would be the hot take. I don't care if a game has the most addictive gameplay ever, if it looks generic to me or aesthetically displeases me I won't even bother trying it. I'm not just looking for toys or some forgettable pastime, I want something that inspires me or that has some kind of cool style or at least something to say. This can come in different ways, from silly over the top comedy of ps2's 3d plats to more serious or esoteric games like Planescape Torment. Not to say gameplay isn't essential, but a game with super simple gameplay like Yume Nikki can easily be more interesting than whatever trending super addictive roguelite to me, as long as the simple gameplay does what it intends to do instead of getting in the way.

Yeah, obviously the best game of all time is actually Link's Crossbow Training!

Rap music did and always has sucked.

Stupids (like me) should die since they only hurt the world

Girly games shouldn't be exclusively for children or be "wholesome". Not that these things are bad, but I feel like a lot of games that are targeted towards women are extremely narrow.
This is a good one. I remember Lollipop Chainsaw was really popular with women back when it came out. And that game definitely targets men.

what are you talking about? - we have horror games!

True but there can be important stuff from previous generations that gets lost

For example gen x and older millennials strongly believed in "Don't sell out", while younger millennials and half of gen z love becoming a brand at 15 at being an influencer and being brand-friendly

So its understandable if a guy who scoffs at being told what he cant say by some corpo entity finds some gen z unbearable, or things like saying "pr0n"
Dude, Gen-X loved/loves selling out. Look at Silicon Valley. Look at Wall Street. And standards for public language have always existed, and were far, far more strict the further back in time you go.

Nah, people in tech sold out but it's nothing like today where everyone wants to be a brand as soon as they can have a phone and a social media account and thinks about how everything they do may be content

And that's not true in the 90s and 00s you could say whatever you wanted especially on the web, it's now that everyone fears demonitazation

Ted Woolsey was never a good translator

Dude, I was there. Yes, some forums and hosts didn’t have many rules, but plenty actually did, and there’s still places with few rules now, and they’re hellholes for that reason. As far as saying what you wanted in public, no, dude. The Simpsons was considered vulgar in its day and there was mad controversy.

Also, do you really think your generation invented self-obsession or wanting to be famous?

If anything it adapted with technology; before the internet, people just made up whatever they wanted, *especially* about martial arts or military history. Everyone went into the first UFC expecting to see a shaolin monk levitate off the mat.

(I do have a nostalgia for the old Count Dante ads, teaching kids to kill their bullies in the back of comic books though.)

I had to change half my words since 2012 I dont even need to go as far back as 2004 lol

The simpsons were considered vulgar by boomers, gen X and early millennials loved it and made it famous, the more anti-pc something was the better. Now even shows that pride themselves on being vulgar like Hazbin Hotel cant even muster "the hard r". So much of gen z and millennials I saw online were like "I cant understate how much this thing damaged our culture" "I cant watch old stuff its so problematic.." "its time we retire this"
Some gen z is less moralistic though, I think millennials are worse

I dont think gen z invented being self absorbed but they're way way worse because of growing up with social media (im not gen z)

That's where I think their thinking the world revolves around them comes from

If you had to change half your words that says more about your vocabulary than anything else. As far as the rest, sorry for mis-genning you.
