Dreamcast Hot Take, Sonic Heroes IS One Of The Best 3D Sonic Games

I did have the PS2 version, so yes I suffered but the soundtrack was amazing that it's probably one of my favorite Sonic titles I own... which isn't saying much since I only had Sony and a few Nintendo handhelds so not much to hate on more like not my...speed? *crickets*

Hotter take: There are only three objectively bad Sonic games.
2006, 4, and Black Knight/Secret Rings.
And in the case of 06 and the Wii games they still did cool things and had cool stories. But I grew up playing all of these so I'm biased, I'm not one of those "I grew up in da 90's" dudes.

Sonic 4 Episode 2 is decent if you forget about Episode 1 and take this as a mobile phone game.

Black Knight is bad? I haven't played it. I wish the Storybook games had a non motion control remaster like NMH and other of the kind.

Now I say this as someone who really doesn't care for the 3D era of Sonic as a whole... I didn't much care for Heroes. I've only played the Gamecube version and it never held me.

But again... not a fan of 3D Sonic, so I don't know how much of my dislike for Heroes is that and how much is the game itself.

"3D era" is quite a wide range as Adventure 1 will soon turn 30.

Granted I never stuck with most of them very long, all the 3D Sonic games I've played felt... similar, at least in terms of how the actual game functions. I've never actually had a chance to play either Adventure game but it at least looks like it'd have the same gameplay elements I don't really care for.

You know something, I only played Black Knight and Secret Rings recently, and I really dig Secret Rings. Black Knight was just okay, but I'm not as incensed by Sonic having a sword as some are.
I will die on the hill that Sonic '06, while an awful game, is such a great piece of media in the same way that The Room and Tough Guys Don't Dance are. It's such great fun with friends.
