Hollow Knight: Silksong, Official Release Date Announced - 2025/09/04

I got the first game for "free" with PS plus, first 30 mins I thought, meh, it's just another micro-budget metroidvania. But after that, the game's art style, world building and difficulty really caught me off-guard. I have no problem saying it's one of my fave games of the last decade, and I have total faith in Team Cherry for Silksong.
It was about time. I didn't play much of the first one like you, but at that time I knew it was a well rounded product with a lot of talent involved. My only hopes now are that Silksong releases for PS4 as well :D
Being an exclusive devalues the game quality? Damn ... I didn't know
I've talked about this topic many times with friends. I can understand both sides of the coin, and both of them are equaly respectable:

Exclusivity usually brings more quality and polishing to the product, because money is invested for it. There are exceptions, but that's what I've found along the years.
Multiplatform releases help people who don't want to invest money in all consoles, with some drawbacks, as the developer needs to adapt the game for the weaker platform in many cases.

I prefer exclusives because I am a person who usually gets all the platforms as I like videogames not console brands. None of them gave me any favours, so I do not favour any of them over the others, because each platform has its upsides and downsides.

But my friends are multi, because they usually stick with one console and tend to nitpick the others. I still don't understand why, because we are not teenagers anymore, and I associate that with unnmaturity. Maybe I am wrong, but that's the way I am :)

Well, indie games are not always released on PS4, so these are good news. Thanks for the confirmation ::heart

I'm sick of hearing about it, so in that sense, I'm glad it's finally coming out. May Sony announce a Bloodborne PC port soon so we can get back to the original gripe, complaining about Geno not being in Smash Bros. like the good old days. Hopefully it lives up to the insane hype, which is not the fault of the developers, though their silence surely added to the mystique. I played a few hours of the first game on Switch and it never quite gelled with me. I loved the graphical style and some of the level design but I disliked a lot of the Souls-esque elements, they felt forced and unnecessary. The slight knockback when hitting enemies also was hard to get used to. I do love me some Metroidvanias, so I've thought about giving it another try to see it if clicks with me. I've heard there won't be any Day 1 reviews, which is pretty interesting. Sure, they probably deserve the benefit of the doubt, and there's a theory that it's to avoid any exploration-related things being spoiled, but no early reviews is generally an ominous sign for a game or movie. What do you all think about that, and does it concern you or do you perhaps find it encouraging?

God, every damn video in my youtube feed is about Silksong. it just SCREAMS flavor of the week, media darling which is so off putting to me.

I'm sure it will be hailed as the best metroidvania ever for no apparent reason just like its predecessor was despite there being PLENTY of other ones that were just as good as Hollow Knight.
