Cartoons Hi Hi PuffyAmiYumi thread ig?

I've recently been bingeing the series, and I was wondering if any of y'all have ever heard of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.

It was an animated series focusing on fictionalised versions of the J-Pop duo PuffyYumi and managed to run for 3 seasons, though I barely see it mentioned save for on lists and ancient posts.

This is simply the fate of many cartoons from that era. Ami and Yumi did the opening for Teen Titans, which makes their cartoon marginally more popular than the likes of, say, yin yang yo.

I watched it fairly frequently when it was on Cartoon Network back in the day, though it has been a while since I watched it. Unfortunately for it though, the surrounding lineup and debuting the same year as Foster's Home probably did not help the show. It did have a great time slot though, 4:30 is like perfect for it to be one of the first shows that kids would see after getting home from school. I'd guess the main reason that it doesn't get talked about would be because it was really only around for a little over a year and a half, and got cancelled more because of a management thing than anything else.

All that said though, definitely a very solid and unique show for the time. I think it'd probably be better remembered if it got allowed to carry over into the next era of the network beyond just reruns.​

The only reason I knew about the band in the first place was that they did the theme song for Teen Titans (not that putrid Teen Titans Go, but the actual good one). Then the show came on. It was... alright, it kind of reminded me of a watered-down Panty and Stocking with Scooby-Doo vibes. I did genuinely like the band for a while, though. I think I saw most, if not all, of the show on C.N.
i always got really deep hidden lesbian undertones to the show to. which was fine with me.

There was a little while where I hadn't refreshed my memory on Puffy Amiyumi, and I thought it was Panty & Stocking for a while.

I had a very interesting journey realizing that I had the wrong show.​
