Hi-C Ecto Cooler first hit shelves in 1989 as a tie-in to The Real Ghostbusters, with Slimer front and center as its mascot.
Initially launched as Citrus Cooler, the rebrand would prove beneficial, as the drink quickly gained a cult following.

To be honest I have never drank it, but this time around I'll have to give it a go

I always wondered: This stuff is just regular orange juice in a different box, right? It's not, like, green or lime-flavoured or anything?

I remember drinking this a bunch in like elementary school but that was so long ago I couldn't say what it even tasted like.

Yeah it was green

Hi-C is basically Kool aid, fruit flavored Suger water. I must've had Ecto Cooler, however I don't really remember the flavor from over 30 years ago, but appearntly it's orange and tangerine flavored, but colored green, so it probably tasted something like Sunny D.

Well I'm sort of laughing out loud that nobody can remember it's flavor. Somewhere between Tang and Sunny D.
Even my friend said it tastes kind of apple. I was like What the hell kind of Elixir is this ? Hahaha

I am old enough to have experienced Ecto Cooler and yes, it did taste like tangerine orange juice.

I had it a few times, but it never really imprinted on me. I'm kind of glad it didn't in retrospect. The thing contained sodium benzoate and yellow #5, both additives worth avoiding. And though it's not listed on the ingredients list, I wouldn't put it past them to have snuck in brominated vegetable oil, which tends to be added to artificial citrus drinks (usually carbonated ones, though).

Dude I love Hi-C he’s such a fun rapper I didn't know he made drinks too :0
