And hey again! I'm Gorse, a mid-20s copywriter and general buffoon. I just saw the new "Forum" link while screwing around on CDRomance, and was pleased as punch to join. I haven't been part of a proper message board in ages, so I look forward to saying my piece and promptly being labelled an insufferable irritant. Ho hum!

Here are a few fast facts about moi:
  • My favourite video games are Sonic Adventure (DC), Team Fortress 2 (PC), and Mario Party Advance (GBA). I'm also very fond of Tecmo's Deception (PS1), NiGHTS Into Dreams... (Saturn), and Digimon Battle Spirit (GBA).
  • My top consoles are the PS1, the PSP, and the GBA.
  • Generally speaking, my favourite genres are platformers, adventure games, dungeon crawlers, and turn-based strategies. I'm willing to give pretty much anything a chance as long as it catches my fancy, though.
  • Outside of the vidyer, I'm chemically addicted to cartoons, comics, literature, and movies. When I'm not being an absolute dork-o-tron, I also like to cook, draw, and make terrible jokes.
I'm glad to be here, and I look forward to making your acquaintance! ?

Yo, what's up welcome G.
xd

This just started so there's not much going on just yet, if you are into writing consider joining the Writers Guild to be able to publish articles/reviews.
See you around!

I didn't know anyone's favorite game is Mario Party Advance lol. Have you checked out this romhack of that game?

What's being a copywriter like btw? I always thought I might like to be one since I enjoy correcting other people's grammar so much lol

WELL, IT'S MINE!!!!!! (Technically speaking, I consider it my third-favourite, but y'know.) I love, love, love the gameplay and writing, and the music and graphics are supremely nostalgic. (I actually think it's one of the best-looking games on the GBA.) People who haven't played it rag on the game a lot for being a Mario Party title on a single-player-focused console, but what they don't understand is that the main campaign is actually a full-fledged adventure game broken up with some very fun puzzles and minigames every few minutes. There's never been any other game like it, and I've been desperately hoping for some kind of sequel or spiritual successor for decades. Plus, you can unlock all sorts of little toys, like a cake decorator or a compatibility test! Score!

I'd never even heard of that hack before you mentioned it, but I'll definitely be giving it a go the next time the urge strikes me. (y)

Correcting people's grammar (and spelling, and punctuation, and sentence structure, and and and) is a massive part of it, and most of what you'll be doing on a day-to-day basis. The first thing you learn on the job is that nobody you're working with could ever pass a seventh-grade English class, let alone create a professional-sounding piece of advertising material, so you'll never be short on work to do.

I actually really, really enjoy the profession – I love writing, reading, and editing (as you'll see from my posts on this forum), and I find being able to promote products and services in a clever, engaging way extremely fulfilling. I've mostly worked in the software industry since starting my career about ~4 years ago, but I've enjoyed every project so far! I currently work freelance, which is an easy way to make some extra dough, but I've been searching for my next full-time role over the past few months. It's a great profession if you're looking for flexibility, but be prepared for some stiff competition and occasionally-insufferable teammates. (y)

Mario Party Advance is an interesting one as a favorite. I think it's the only one in the series I haven't tried yet.

Wow, interesting. Yeah, you have a very distinctive way of expressing yourself on here, so it makes sense that you're into writing. I also wanted to do software at first, but I wasn't very good at math and couldn't get very far in my college's CS program (I was a TA for the CS department but couldn't pass caculus 2 haha).

Just watch out for that Gorse guy, he likes to goon.
Yeeccch, I cannot STAND people who post needless references to bodily fluids! I’ve blocked this “Gorse” character and will be reporting any “g**ning”-related material I see.
