So, over a year ago I started a playthrough of Pokémon Crystal where I gave myself two rules:
1. If a Pokémon faints, it can’t be used again.
2. Only using Johto Pokémon. EXCLUDING EVOLUTIONS TO GEN 1 POKÉMON! If it’s not pure Johto, then it’s got to go-hto.
The first rule was thrown out very quickly once I realized how screwed I was by rule 2. Around 15 hours of gameplay later and I’ve managed to piece together a better game plan than I had at the start, and I just today evolved Togepi into Togetic to give our fledgling team some air support as well as support from the will of the lord that is Metronome.
The question I have involves this guy:
Aipom, one of my Gen 2 favorites whom I had previously never used in a playthrough. Strewth the Aipom has since become a solid part of the team, cutting down trees and the occasional Pokémon, while holding onto Baton Pass. Considering how our team is still very underpowered for the harsh battles ahead, I was imagining using a Double Team to Baton Pass strategy, where Strewth’s game plan is to stack Double Teams and then pass it to the heavy damage dealers. The issue is that we are three badges in and the only place to buy Double Team as a TM is in Kanto.
THE QUESTION:
With only a copy of Crystal and a copy of Stadium 2 that I also have: is it possible to get Double Team any other way? I only have one GameBoy, so connecting to another game is out of the question unless I find somebody who would let me borrow their system and a link call to initiate a trade up from Blue.
