Hello friends! There's a PS2 or PS3 game that I've been trying to remember for almost two years now, but I just can't seem to find it. Recently, I decided to play some old games through an emulator (like Jak, DMC 1-2-3, Metal Slug, Onimusha, etc.), and it felt really great. However, I still can't find that one game I've been thinking about for years. I remember it being a mix of Onimusha and DMC, though it might not actually be like that.

I only recall a very short 2-3 second clip: Imagine you're in a boss arena—a circular room. I distinctly remember the main character having a cape (ım not sure) (possibly a sword user?). That boss room had a brain-like structure, with round, eye-like things popping up from the ground. There were vein-like textures on the floor and walls, and I'm somewhat sure the ground looked like a brain. One of the enemies attacking us was something like worms coming out of the ground, or maybe some kind of energy wave, but it also had a fleshy texture.

The graphics weren't bad for its time—I remember the textures and effects being fairly detailed, which made the whole "living" environment even creepier!

If you could help me find it, I’d be really happy! When I played it as a kid, it got me so excited—I even got scared and asked my mom, "Do people’s brains look like that when they die?" :D I’m sure I played this game between 2005-2007, and it was either a PS2 or PS3 game.

Finding video games for people are hard despite you know many games because many games has similar elements, so I directly remembered this but I can recall many games like that:

The video should start in a specific time I especially set that shows a similar moment in the game. If not check 3:29:46.

It's not , but when I saw this, 2 things came to mind. The first is that we are not outside, we are in a room and we go through a locked door before entering this empty room. I remember the character was dressed in black

My guess was going to be nanobreaker, but I'm guessing the user above me is more correct.
I looked at nanobreaker, but I think the game I was talking about was taking place in a place like a Gothic castle. There seemed to be no modern-day elements

Run Like Hell?
Nope. There were no modern buildings or anything like that, the place was like a Gothic castle and the character was like dante dressed in black. I'm pretty sure the game isn't DMC, I just finished the trilogue

If that is not the most frustrating thing. I hate when stuff like that happens just for you to remember it much much later probably blurting it out in an embarrassingly exciting fashion. Anyway, I'll look over some sort of list to see if I can get any leads.

How about Chaos Legion?
It's very similar to the game I described, I even wondered if this game was it, but it's not....

Don't forget the key elements:
Gothic atmosphere, possibly a gothic castle setting, organic/brain-like textures everywhere, and a protagonist dressed in black.

Thank you already :D

Castlevania Lament of Innocence first boss is basically an exact match.
It looks VERY similar, but the scene I remember was darker and the environment felt more 'alive'—like the walls/floor were pulsating. Now I'm wondering if I might be mixing up memories from playing Castlevania and Onimusha 3 back-to-back... But I'm almost certain the version in my head had a smaller, darker boss arena. Plus, I think I'd definitely remember if it were a Castlevania game—I would've recognized it

Is it Van Hellsing? It plays like DMC/GoW kinda and has a gothic vibe, with the character all in black
Not Van Helsing. It has a similar vibe, but no. I also remember a jumping mechanic like in the first DMC game.

Where are you from could have been a Europe or Japan only realese
Since I played it in Turkey (2005-2007), it was almost certainly available in both USA and European markets as well.

If you didn't say brain stuff I would think you saw this:

See how such stuff is an element in many video games, trying to find it so hard lol.

I don't remember it much but this enemy type was huge boring aspect of the game because they constantly popped up from the ground. I don't remember if game has a satisfyingly "brain like room" but could be IDK, there was some creepy "flesh-like" space ship aspect of this game but no particular such a boss battle as much as I remember.

That Castlevania video you shared in the post really messed with my head... Now I'm wondering if my childhood self mixed up Onimusha and Castlevania memories.
Could be. Video games are so similar, and when you played so much different video games in a short time your brain start to generate false memory of a video game never existed but combined many elements into one game. It may be even a SEGA Genesis video game you weirdly remember as a PS2 game even in 3D. Brain works in a way it has to "generate" the memory by using a blueprint it saved therefore our memories always have a potential to be false. Your uncle's green sports car can even turn into a red pickup truck in your memory. And then it may turn out it wasn't your uncle's but your aunt's. False believes also can generate a false memory. I can also say the memories you had when you were a child likely to be false for many reasons I'll skip to explain.

While such a video game perhaps exist, it's really hard for us to find and we cannot machine gun you every similar game. I wish we could find it. I hope a hero will come and give the right answer so don't lose hope!!! It sucks to can't remember a game you look for. So best to do is checking video games of the platforms you suspect, perhaps you may find great games along the way! This is what I do when I look for a game I can't remember lol.

Damn I thought I was getting somewhere with a ps2 game called Sword of Destiny. If anything, that one might be pretty cool to check out regardless. The search continues
