Recently i just bought a PS1 ( waiting on it in the mail) and i few games, like Silent Hill (ofc),Resident Evil, and Suikoden 2 but i want more, im rly open to playing anything but i want to immerse myself in that time period in gaming and kinda role-play as a kid (lol) So i must ask what are some PS1 games that you love? or better question what are some PS1 games you'd recommend to a new player or someone whose from the ps3 era?

My general ps1 recs are usually as follows: Crash Bandicoot 2, Ape Escape, Rayman, Pac-Man World and Metal Slug X.

I was going to ask what kind of games you like, but seeing as you said you're open to anything, I'll just list some of my favorites to recommend.
Ape Escape, Azure Dreams, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Baroque (Technically, the Saturn version is better but this is still a good one), Crash Bandicoot 2, Einhander, Final Fantasy 7 & 9, Intelligent Qube, Internal Section, Jumping Flash 1 & 2, King's Field, Klonoa, Linda³, Metal Gear Solid (And VR Missions), Parasite Eve 1 & 2, Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment, Ridge Racer Type 4, Racing Lagoon, Shadow Tower, Slap Happy Rhythm Busters, Sonic Wings Special, Stahlfeder, Strider 2, Tall Twins Tower, Tomba 1 & 2, Vib-Ribbon and Xenogears.

Nice selection there across a bunch of genres, I'm sure you could find a few things there you'll love.

I do not know how much those original games you bought cost in the US, but in Europe they are ridiculously expensive!
If you can check out Fear Effect 1 and Future Cop LAPD.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver in that order.

With Blood Omen, you will have to put up with some horrendous load times anytime you pause or change screens.
But if you like a dark, atmospheric gothic world with writing that's on par with Shakespeare, then that game series is for you. Soul Reaver is set in the same universe as Blood Omen, even having the main character from one game appear in the others. Soul Reaver also has the same great writing, just not as many load times.

I actually refer to the game series as a modern-day Shakespeare play with vampires.

Blood Omen 1 intro, the whole game is Written this well if not better

they're pretty expensive here depending on what you get but I've been saving a bunch js for this ps1.

i would personally recommend, from my childhood memory vibes collection:

Megaman X4 - this was my favourite and first megaman game, i still remember using a small tv and switching controllers between me and my dad to beat it.

Megaman Legends 2 - i didnt knew much english at the time so i was stuck in the first town for a while, the whole vibe of that place i just loved been there.

Digimon world 1 - its such an odd world, there is a lot to figure out but the satisfaction of finding things in this game was the best

Front mission 3 - tactical mech fights with awesome small animations and sfx in combat, also cool soundtrack.

Vib-ribbon - this one doesnt need intruduction why. its just charm.

My suggestion however, is to get the ISOs first and try the games out before committing to buying any of these.
Some PS1 games are rather pricey now. For example, Blood Omen is around 15-20 bucks, which isn't too bad, but like Castlevania SOTN, even a disc still goes for about 30 bucks. An open copy with the jewel case will cost you around 50-60. Now, SOTN is well worth the money, it's a damn good game.

But some of these are pricey. For instance, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, which is an excellent game, for a good copy will sometimes run you over 100 USD. I have seen CIB versions go for over 1,000 USD.

So yeah, try before you buy, to make sure you even like the game... most definitely with old games if you can.

If you can play Japanese games these games that have English patches are like essential legendary PS1 games and kinda legends of their genre they belong to. They are very important video games in the history!!!:

- Racing Lagoon (Street racing RPG by the developers of Final Fantasy)

- Ace Combat 3 (its Japanese version is the real deal game)

I personally feel sorry for people who could never played Japanese games that lots of them still have no English translation because these games are for me the essential PS1 games that defines the console for me. I do not dismiss the value of non-Japanese games they played, rather I would wish these games didn't only stuck in Japan needing fan patch. My actual anger is some of the games did release for non-Japanese part of the world but not to bother translating they cut tons of features from these games and remakes the shit out of these games and Ace Combat 3 is a big popular example.

Other then these I say these games were big part of my sense of PS1 back then:

- Persona 1

- Breath of Fire 4 (you may directly start from this game with no problem)

- Harry Potter games

- Nascar Rumble

- Medal of Honor games

- Syphon Filter games

- Colony Wars 3: Red Sun

- Jackie Chan Stuntmaster

- Fighting Force 1

- Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman

- Gran Turismo 2

- Resident Evil 3

- Metal Gear Solid 1

- Twisted Metal 4

- Alien Resurrection

- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

- Diablo 1

- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

- Tekken 3

- King of Fighters '96

- Spider-Man games

- Colin McRae Rally 2.0

- Quake II

- G Police games
