As a follower of Karl I wasn't expecting him to lose, but I didn't follow the ins and outs of the case either. Now it's easy to beat a dead horse, and many people are doing just that. I guess that's how people are nowadays. Anyway...

PS: Karl Jobst is a youtuber that exposes cheaters. Billy Mitchell is a retro gaming record holder or so I'm told.

There are a lot of lies being spread that I falsely claimed Billy sued me because I said he cheated. I never claimed this, I only claimed it was relevant as part of my defence.

I didn't openly discuss certain details for obvious reasons but I was never trying to hide why I was…

I have now watched this video and understood a lot better.

Billy sued Karl for defamation.
Because Karl said in a video that Billy's lawsuit to another person (Apollo Legend) led to his suicide because of the money Apollo had to paid in damages.

That was not true since it was discovered Apollo didn't have to pay Billy any money.
Karl's defense was "Billy can't be defamed cos he's a proven cheater".
Something completely unrelated to the lawsuit.

I don't know why this went to trial it was unwinnable.

Damn, I didn't think it would turn out that bad for Karl... He was probably thinking the worst case scenario was he would have to "eat" his own legal fees at worst, but since he lost, I think he also has to cover billy's legal costs on top of some serious damages? I think he talked about that in a video about how AUS law works?

Yeah, i was once a naive girl that thought studying law was like a solution for Justice problems, but i was soo wrong in soo many ways. Not all that is legal is fair and Not all fair things are legal. (sorry for being a bit of a sadder with this response)

Honestly I haven't really been keeping up with what's been happening with these guys.
Didn't really know what this lawsuit was about, so I was like "Oh damn, a loss for Karl" but then watched parts of the linked video.

Billy sued Karl for defamation.

The Youtube comments immediately gave me a lot more context. This case sounds a bit more complicated than I expected. I'm not gonna take any sides here, oh well...

produces fake spliced runs on an emulated hardware and then sues anyone who calls him out for cheating its pathetic af but it seems to work well for Billy

Maybe I wasn't the person who followed this case the most carefully, but I literally thought the defamation was about whether he cheated or not.
