Yo! Long time lurker but I decided to finally get a bit more active on the site. A bit of my backstory is that I've been gaming since I was about 3 years old. First memory I have is playing Super Mario Bros on NES. My love for gaming has just grown since then and I don't think it'll ever stop. Some of my favorite series are MGS, Mega Man X, Final Fantasy, Dynasty Warriors, Yakuza, and so on. One of my favorite games is Deadly Premonition. Best definition of its so bad its good.

I'm also an avid movie watcher. Got done watching some Samurai flicks like Blade of the Immortal, and Hara-kiri: Death of a Samurai. I love foreign films a lot and plan to watch more. I like anime as well but I watch infrequently nowadays. I could go on, but thats the gist of it. Keep on Keeping on. :)

Hello and welcome to Retrogametalk. That’s an awesome intro. Starting with Super Mario Bros at age 3 is a legendary origin story. You’ve got a solid lineup of favorites too. MGS and Yakuza are both masterclasses in storytelling and tone. Deadly Premonition is such a wild pick. It really is the gold standard of “so bad it’s good” and somehow still unforgettable. Also love that you’re into samurai films and foreign cinema. Hara-kiri is a masterpiece and Blade of the Immortal has some brutal choreography. If you ever dive back into anime, I’d be curious what titles you gravitate toward.
Anyway, glad you’re getting more active. Looking forward to seeing what you bring to the table.

Thanks! Last anime I finished was Bocchi the Rock. I heard Frieren is good so I may jump back in with that. I watched several films with Jean Reno in them like Ronin and Wasabi. I tend to watch them in the original language if possible.

Deadly Premonition: Origins is also one of my faves. I wouldn't call it bad, though. It's definitely jank at parts, and the tone is all over the place between horror and comedy, but it's all intentional.

It's basically Twin Peaks: the video game, for better or worse. It's also very quotable.

Deadly Premonition 2, on the other hand, is an unforgivable mess. It runs so poorly, that it makes you wonder why it was a Switch exclusive.
