I have talked to many online personalities over the years.

Some, I contacted as part of my then-job. Others, I e-mailed out of genuine admiration for their craft. And what's almost shocking to me is that a lot of them (even the vast majority) were extremely kind and generous with their time.

Some of the highlights include YouTuber Ross Scott, podcasters Marva and Sabrina (from "Sistory Untold"), and professional videogame reviewer Chereside (culturageek.com). I have also have very cordial conversations in passing with the girls behind the award-winning "Fresh Hell" podcast and a very interesting conversation with Jen from "My Little Nightmare", who seemed really glad to listen to me for ideas on how to expand her show.

Now, obviously, some people weren't nearly as nice when contacted, but the positive outweighed the negative so throughly as to become a non-issue entirely. Even some of the people who declined interviews were actually really nice about it and I still see them as really great creators whose circumstances didn't allow them to engage with minor outlets such as the one I was with.

What about you? Any stories to add to the mix?

If you watch mainly anglophone Youtubers and live in a country that does not speak English, you will never see them, i've seen some filmmakers from my country that i admire, and that's that.

i've only ever chatted with one youtuber, it was a short conversation on the playstation network many years ago. it was with my all time favorite youtuber, darklordjadow.

Well, if interacting with Twitch streamers in chat counts.

I did once write a thank you eMail to Demon Feed Audio. Super nice person, read a lot of fanfic from AO3. She doesn't post that often anymore after finishing college, sadly life's gonna life.

I did in the very early days of Youtube, back when it had an actual mailing system, but I haven't since probably a year or so before that feature was discontinued. The largest I probably ever spoke to was Jesse Cox just to say I was enjoying a series he was doing and to recommend a game or something like that.

Well I used to be able to back in the day but for reason now it´s like my comments on youtube don´t exist. I have a few small content creator I used to talk allot with and they always good at answering all but now it´s not like im even there anymore hell even people that LOVE to tell me how wrong I am does not even insult me anymore. IT´s like I can leave comments but im a ghost maybe im ghost banned.

On twitch I only follow 3 people and I do talk with them often on Discord or when they stream.

If my youtube account was not that old I would make a new one and see if it fixes my issue.

I've heard from quite a lot of people that Youtube will shadowban comments. I'm not sure on the specifics, like if it's account wide or on a per comment basis, but even things like tone or wording can be enough to make it happen.

Nope, just about every server I joined I just made friends other fans instead of talking with the creator and then the server gets deleted or densely populated that the regulars feel overcrowded and leave.
That happens to me most of the time.
