Have you ever been to a Chuck E. Cheese from 1980-2009?

A strange but interesting topic lol. I went in 2007, I remember playing DDR and Mario Kart GP 2. I never went as an older kid bc I felt really out of place lol. Now I feel a little sad because of nostalgia. 🤣

Most of the visits to CEC were due to birthday parties... I remember getting a care bear and Yami Yugi magnets there and trying the sit in roller coaster ride as well as watching the younger tots riding the clock ferris wheel. And of course two instances of kids being kids - one being a curious tot pulling the fire alarm.

I vaguely remember going to one a few times for friends' birthday parties. To be honest, I don't remember liking them. The arcade games were alright, but I never had enough money to play more than a few, and the food was just generic pizza. I do remember everyone being really weirded out by the animatronics though. I know some people really loved them, but we all thought they were creepy and killed the mood, we would try to avoid them if we could lol.

Yes, I've been to one many times when I was a kid. I remember playing Mario Kart Arcade GP. I also remember riding those "roller coaster" simulator cabinets there too. I've also been to many Chuck E. Cheese clones and knockoffs where I lived. I also cringed when the animatronics performed. Also something about Chucky himself doesn't sit right with me.

Had a birthday or two there in the 90s. I still have some of the tokens around somewhere. The animatronics never creeped me out and I liked petting the nose of the mascot lol.

Most of what I remember from those types of kids places is the scent of stale urine on plastic, though. Same with McDonald's playground ball pits...Grossed me out as a kid and made me highly suspicious of other kids lol.

There was one in my hometown, Escondido, that my Dad used to take me back in the late 90s to the early 00s. Dude in the Chuck E. Cheese outfit used to freak me out cuz I was a dumb kid. First time I played Jurassic Park The Arcade there. Also drank diet coke even though I wanted to drink root beer so for the longest time I thought root beer tasted like garbage till I drank one proper.

I haven’t been to Chuck E. Cheese’s since like half of many of us were nothing but wee little kids. And for me in the year 2011 it was like something out of a dream. From seeing the animatronic characters perform in a dark show stage room far beyond the rest of the building to music blasting in my ears and the multiple flashing lights along with crawling around the play is a core memory that still occasionally pops up to my head every time I think of a dreamlike childhood memory

Man, I don't know where to begin, had a lot of great memories of CEC. Playing Cruis'n World, always one of my go to games once I get my tokens, and it really solidify my love for arcade racers. Hearing that theme just gets me hyped up to race in Hawaii in my yellow viper. Star Wars Trilogy Arcade was another highlight, game was amazing even though it kicked my ass sideways until I beat it in 09. Though a funny story featuring Star Wars, to keep it simple, my little 6 year old brain didn't really comprehend mind blowing 1998 arcade graphics, so when I reached the scout walker boss fight in Endor Forrest, & the moment I saw it walk towards the screen, aka me, I did a "tactical retreat" cuz I thought it was gonna squish me. Safe to say, I wasn't ready to be a Jedi. Some other highlight games throughout my tenure of CEC over the years, After Burner: Climax was a whale of a good time. And Johnny Hero Action Hero, IMO, one of the most underrated on-rail shooters of all time. It may not be a Time Crisis, Virtua Cop, House of the Dead quality game, but its a helluva good time. Just makes me wish its was properly dumped & digitally preserved, I would play that joint a 1000 times over.

No, one opened here in late 2010s and it's depressing, the only half-decent thing there is a pair of arctic thunder that are completely lost between all the modern "arcade" garbage, other arcade places around here aren't any better either so I don't care anymore about it.

We don't have that here in my country but we did have a good arcade like Timezone which very cool good arcade games library and good prizes.

Yes. Lots of fond memories of birthdays and such as a little kid.
Back in the 80s they used to have a legit arcade in there, not the ticket-games they have now but the kind you play on MAME and took quarters. I remember the animatronic characters were up on a stage and would "perform" every so often. There would also be guys in full body mascot suits.

We still have Chuck E. Cheese in some places. My nephew just recently had a birthday there. But its so much different: it is brightly lit (pizza places and arcades used to be dimly lit for some reason and I miss that) and all the games are just to win tickets (no traditional arcade games).
