Just here for when the shitshow starts...
due to AI being brought up....

I'd say there are genuine concerns about the current development of AI. I'm working as a software dev and while currently, I don't fear for my job, in a few years, or on the unfortunate event that our higher ups get free reign, I can see possible bad outcomes.

Personally, I only use AI occasionally to get inputs. Inspiration. Which it is good at, but whenever I tried to get anything actually valuable from it, I would end up spending more time typing follow up prompts than if I had just read through the Wikipedia page.

I'm sure we can all have a mature discussion without devolving into calling each other evil or stupid.

On that note. I think whoever doesn't agree with me should die, and they are the problem. (Unrelated to AI though)

The only good thing about AI for me is still just to help me translate stuff with specific tone and hootle-cadoodle. Google Translate always suck whenever I mention Still In Love and Loves Only You of actually translating it, when I meant the horse which uses all katakana. Or scenario B where it leaves the name untranslated.

Only pull ChatGPT when Google Translate having a bad day. Translating from English to Japanese since I have Japanese friend to talk with.

And since I mention her... here's my beloved horse.

I'm just an observer curious to see how it all plays out... Seeing AI can be used for good and bad. weather to embrace or resist remains to be seen when shit hits the fan...::thinking

But seriously I'm fine if it's all just harmless fun, better if it's used to help in the medical field or other productive stuff.

I usually use AI only as a last resort, like when I ran into an error on my notebook that “apparently” NO ONE ELSE had on YouTube or anywhere else, so I had nowhere else to turn. Other than that, it’s basically this: I use AI when I don’t understand some YouTube tutorial, or really as a last option.
(And sometimes to translate texts :/ but there’s Google Translate, so whatever.)

It's surprisingly useful for helping make stupid little Tampermonkey scripts or sometimes fixing old scripts that don't work anymore.

"Vibe coding" on the other hand seems to be the reason Windows is even stupider than usual lately and should not called "coding" or used in serious software. The negative effects of not understanding what code being used does or how it works are obvious.

Calling it "scared of it" seems pretty facetious, but no i do not use ai and i have no intention to, ai cannot create, just regurgitate whatever is fed into it.

I'd say the main concern right now is...what is the product? They are building behemoth data centers with no sign of a use case or a practical application that could make money, the bubble is GOING to burst, as this growth is inorganic and incestuous.

So the main concern is, what is this infrastructure really being put in place for? Cause it's not commerce.

This is lame half-hearted bait. You didn't even put anything in your post to expand upon it and give people more to react to.

I've made my feelings on LLMs known elsewhere. I will say it has actually been helpful for coding, there's a bot you can ask on Boot.dev to expand upon a lesson and provide examples and further questions or scenarios. Though it's broken several times when I ask too many or too specific of questions.

Yeah, but mostly to gather information. My work gives me access to one so I use it to get information for the codebase, documentation, business practices, legal closures and things I need to know before making an important decision. It's a huge company so asking people is very time consuming and most of the time they do not know.

Sometimes, I do ask it to make my work but it just shits itself and makes a mess; but I learn a few things from the attempt.

In my daily life, I do ask ChatGPT for some particular information, an analysis of a certain topic or different entry points to begin research. At times I disable it's behavior to see what it actually thinks when given a topic, just for shits n giggles. If anyone would like the prompt I can share it here, if it's allowed.

I don't use it for art, generation or all that. It's worthless on that front,

Did you guys remember why i have no time to hate multimillionaires companies?
Guess what? i have no time for IA cause i only want to hunt hyenas with my old unrefined...

I have tried using it for assistance with writing short stories, and it's garbage. I will notice poor grammar and reusing all sorts of cliche phrases that I would never use.

I have also played around with image generators and I've noticed the same few faces reused constantly.

I don't see any real use for it and am sick of everyone jumping on the bandwagon.

Yes, i use it daily. I'm not proud of it but it is what it is.
