I discovered after the openlara engine that there are some N64 games that have been ported to run on x86
I never had an N64 and emulation for it is not the greatest, but these ports are quite solid
Are there any other ports from consoles to know about besides this?
SM64 has a few ports so I will be testing those out later

if you can send a link of it to me, i'll give it a try and see how it does. i played a lot of star fox 64 on my 64 for many years.

Same, one of the few games of this kind I actually enjoy.
i know. it's soooo good to play. i felt so badass getting the true ending after so many years of getting stuck at the star wolf fight and finally learning how to do a somersault.
good times.

Right? it's kinda crazy they never quite could repeat the magic since.

it's even weirder since most of the games are just remakes of it. i stopped playing star fox zero halfway through because of the controls. assault was good, and command was interesting with the story, a bit hard to play, but not too hard. star fox 3ds plays more or less the same. i need to play adventure again at some point. i never got very far in it.

okay. got it. i'll work on checking it out tomorrow. i got a few other things to work on tonight first. thanks for the link. : )

Had been getting into pc ports of n64 games since a pc port of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask came out. I've checked out the star fox 64 pc port as it's one of my favorite n64 games all of time, and I was so amazed on how smooth the game really was. It had more features than what the original game had previously and I can honestly say that it's one of the best ports I've ever played!

I saw one of my buddies stream it over his Discord server once. Smooth as all get out, both the graphics and the gameplay. I've been tempted to grab it myself, Nintendo ninjas be damned.

Just gotta outninja their lot.

I think if Command had real controls (read: face buttons and D-pad) I would probably enjoy it as a sort of enhanced remake of Starfox 2, but since it doesn't have such controls...

I've been playing it a lot. I love Star Fox 64. It's a really good version, not as feature filled as their OoT port but it works.

No linux version yet so I'm running it with Proton and it still works great.

I have a romhack of Commands with d-pad controls (next to Zelda PH and ST). I would've liked if Nintendo made a proper remake of SF1&2 or making a new tactical game but Zero killed that opportunity.

On the other hand while I deeply respect that PC port of Starfox 64 I would've absolutely loved if the original SNES game had that treatment (widescreen + 60 FPS + high resolution) as I love the OST and visuals.

Starfox 64 holds surprisingly well on the original hardware, emulator and we got the 3DS remake for those who wants so I think SNES SF could've needed it more than 64 imo.

At least Ex-Zodiac is the closest to an actual hypothetical "Starfox 3" while still having its own quirks.

i don't think that's likely to happen with me.

I don't feel like writing out an entire essay, so I'll keep it short.

Star Fox Assault is an overall mediocre game that tries to be both a third-person shooter and a rail shooter and fails miserably at both.

Star Fox Command is a burning piece of garbage whose story spends more time on the poorly written romantic drama between the loathsome scumbags that Fox and Krystal are in this game than on the supposed main plot of the Anglars invading the Lylat system.

hmm.... not what i was expecting.
assault does have its problems. i noticed that a long time ago when i first played it. space sections felt kind of slow. a little easier than 64. some of the levels definitely need redesigning. the fort level is fine, the space base and the aparoid colony level need to be smaller. corneria was alright, mostly with the infinite gun that you get for the boss fight.
command was weird. it would have been better with one path and little bonus and side missions that you can play later that add to the story. several endings don't even acknowledge those guys even existing after a certain point.

There's a ROM hack to make Starfox run at 60fps with emulators with settings overclocked, but I didnt test it.

Which also makes the game faster sadly.

The game is challenging enough at normal speed.

The last time I did, I got into an extended argument, so no.
Excuse me but you stated an opinion as a fact and when there's an opposing opinion why would it be a form of quarrelling?
