I still need to play that, i finished the first (much struggle was had), I forgot I also have the second.

I liked Devil Survivor 1 well enough but 2 felt overwritten and I really just wanted all the characters to shut up. I should give it another chance.

Perhaps not the best jrpg out there in terms of gameplay

I struggle to find a jrpg with a better gameplay, outside of not controling the other party members directly. It's turn-base, but combat goes fast and is rewarding.

But the Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES are really long slogs. Persona 3 Portable have important QoL improvements that make the game much easier to digest.
